Good start for one of my current favorite Marvel titles, Nov 17 2007
I had been buying The Punisher comics & just purchased this collection recently. The collection offers great value when you consider a single issue is about $4. You get the first 12 issues of the MAX series here. The pages are high quality, & glossy. All in all, it's a very nice hardcover, and comes with a slipcover at a super price.
The very adult (extreme violence & language) content is pretty good for this first collection; there are 2 story arcs broken into 6 issues each. Ennis is a very entertaining writer and relies a lot on shock & surprising situations. The art isn't 'Jim Lee' but that's okay too. It's more gritty (especially the first arc) and tells the story well. The comic really feels like a storyboard for a movie.
I really enjoyed the first arc a lot more where The Punisher takes on the mob, gets kidnapped, and reunites briefly with his old pal Microchip. The 2nd arc, featuring Irish gangs, was weaker in my opinion, but still better than a lot of the other stuff out there. Highly recommended.

A new look for an old character, May 24 2006
By A Customer
Remember the punisher of the 80's and 90's the morally correct on most bases. Imagine a darker character with no fear of the death that awaits his viscious lifestyle. First this is not a kids comic, this is the the punisher for now days punishing rapists and muderers alike. The art is hard edged to match the story and the approach is the stuff punisher fans have been waiting for

Does NOT contain The End, Mar 6 2009
I'm posting this review for one reason only: the product description is incorrect. I contacted Amazon after receiving my copy to inform them that this volume does NOT contain Punisher: The End, as advertised, but the description has not changed. If, as it was for me, the only reason you're thinking about ordering this book is that you want to get the Richard Corben illustrated The End in hardcover, you aren't going to get it here. Infuriating, actually.
