Pure Barre - Awesome,
By
This review is from: Pure Barre: Ballet, Dance & Pilates Fusion (DVD)
Awesome workout! Especially for the legs, rear and torso. Good for people who are relatively active or have done some kind of fitness workout (e.g. beginner to intermediate level). Good for all ages; male or female. There is no jumping, high impact or fast, aggressive movements. Her workout focuses on toning, so there is very little aerobic component, if any. Her dialogue and instructions are clear, simple and to the point - she doesn't waste time with too much explanation and idle chat. There are no long breaks between excersises. VERY effective workout. You only need a mat, 2 sets of light weights (e.g. 3 lb and 5 lb) and chair/stool to balance on. I would DEFINITELY recommend this ballet/pilates fitness video to anyone looking for an overall complete body toning workout.

The worst exercise DVD I have ever seen,

This review is from: Pure Barre: Ballet, Dance & Pilates Fusion (DVD)
I'm going to save you money right now. Don't waste it on this DVD. Sure the cover artwork is lovely but once you pop it into the DVD player you find that this is a DVD that looks like it was made in somebody's basement, with poor lighting and sound, and exercises that do not live up to the cover hype. Moreover, the instructor is wearing black pants and black stockings (who on earth wears stockings to exercise?) and when she is doing intricate leg exercises: a) she doesn't explain what she's doing in enough detail b) you cannot SEE what she's doing because of what she's wearing and because the camera work is so terrible. Literally, all you see is a blob of black as she moves her feet and you just don't know what the heck is going on. Honestly, who filmed this? The brief ab routine is not recommended. First of all, nobody worth their salt does this kind of ab work anymore. This is 1980s ab work, the kind that bulks up your abs instead of streamlining your core. But worst of all is the way she holds up her neck while performing these outdated crunches, without offering any modifications to those who find this extremely painful for the neck. All in all, this DVD is not worthy of being on Amazon. There are hundred better videos out there, skip this, do your body and your wallet a favour.

Don't bother,

This review is from: Pure Barre: Ballet, Dance & Pilates Fusion (DVD)
I am a pilates instructor and was looking for a video with a touch of ballet and dance to bring to the pilates. Most of the exercises are very small movements, which is fine, but they were not described very well or shown. Form is important but the camera seldom changes angles and the instructor is wearing all black with a dark background, it really is difficult to get the proper form when it isn't clearly shown. Frequently you can't even see her from the hips down, so you don't know where your bottom parts should be. I didn't see the point in some of the exercises at all, and I don't find that it would help anyone build very much functional strength. Total waste of time and money and a complete disappointment.
