Very well writen. Lots of detail in the character and plot development. The story was easy for my 13 yr old to follow and would be also appropriate for younger readers. A good story with careful attention payed to interweaving the various characters' lives - nothing left out, very easy to follow. Highly interesting!

I'm a long time reader of sci-fi fantasy, in particular works by Mercedes Lackey, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Anne McCaffrey. I came across this book in a store and noticed that Mercedes Lackey gave Tanya Huff a ringing endorsement. I couldn't put the book down once I started. Ms. Huff has created a beautiful and interesting world filled with magic. Her characters are lively and funny. I enjoyed both novels, but liked the second one "Fifth Quarter" significantly more.

Really good! Can't wait for the second compilation. By the way, this is a compiliation volume of two previously published books. If you have them, don't buy this. If you don't have them, definately buy this book. Either way, well worth reading if you like any fantasy at all.
