Great Sci Fi short stories for girls/women,
By Sunnyhun (Toronto, ON Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quatrain (Hardcover)
Sharon Shinn is my all time favourite Sci Fi writer and it's wonderful to have 4 of her short stories in one book! There is one short story for each of the following of Sharon's full novel series: Twelve Houses, Samaria, Castle Auburn and Heart of Gold; all of which are great books.

This review is from: Quatrain (Mass Market Paperback)
I simply loved to return to my favorite places and spend some time with my favorite characters. I love miss Shinn's way of telling a story, keeping you spellbound all the way through. And her characters are so loveable!!!

A nice little short story quartet.,

This review is from: Quatrain (Hardcover)
Sharon Shinn's one of my comfort reads, and one of the things I like best about her, beyond her creation of worlds I love, is that she frequently embroiders on these worlds even after the series (or book) is done, and she manages to never take away from or sully the good spirit of the originals. If you're not new to Sharon Shinn but haven't bothered looking into her short stories, take heart: they're more like a loving postscript than a tired attempt to extort some new coin by resurrecting the past.Quatrain has four short stories (closer to novella in length) built on the books "Summers from Castle Auburn," "Heart of Gold," the world of the Twelve House series (starting with "Mystic and Rider") and Samaria's series (starting with "Archangel"). I highly recommend that you begin with these other stories first, if you're unfamiliar to any. A good piece of work to tide you over between her full-length novels. Thumbs up.
