4.0 out of 5 stars Unmasking the gay man's legacy Feb 13 2013
By Cody - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Finally a look at the interior, subjective life of a homosexual man. Rings true with familiarity and relating to the unfolding journey we undertake and have undertaken from a mythological perspective. A simple must for any man who finds discontent in the too often alcohol / lady gaga infused world of the gay world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roscoe in a nutshell Jan 9 2010

Wonderful read for anyone looking for queer spiritual knowledge from an anthropological, non-bias (aside from the queer) perspective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good introduction. Mar 26 2011
By Beregond - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I good introduction to the topic of gay spirituality. I was particularly moved by the chapter on the gay nightlife scene of the seventies, which was accurate and insightful.

I hate the use of the word "queer" in this context, and fail to see how academics justify it. A word that has hugely hurtful associations for the majority of gay people can't be defanged by adopting it. That only comes across as perpetuating self-hatred. But it has been going on for too long now to stop I suppose. But I wish the self-appointed guardians of gay culture would not presume to speak for all of us when they make these arbitrary and destructive decisions.
