This thing won't last more than a few years. I liked the blade over a wire for cutting basic hard cheeses as it feels considerably sturdier than many wire cutters. For this and similar slicers, people complain that the blade bends quickly and cuts uneven slices, but I didn't notice it happening for a couple years and even then it wasn't a dealbreaker. One of the rubberized feet broke off after a few months, but that's not necessarily a common problem and could have been fixed with superglue if I had realized what the broken foot was when I found it. Its demise is nearing after about 4 years of use, as the hinge has rusted from dishwasher use. For $15-20 I'm sure I could have done worse.
I've got another cheese slicer in the kitchen already, wire-based, but I've never been confident with the wire's strength on it like with the board my parents had growing up. If I get fed up with it I'll probably buy another one of these knowing that it won't last forever.
