Inexpensive Portable CD Player w\FM Radio - Recommended, Jan 28 2010

While far from top of the line, the RCA Personal CD Player is a decent, inexpensive device that works better than expected. We bought this for my father who recently suffered a stroke and is recovering in a nursing home. Since he has developed cataracts, he can not watch TV or use a portable DVD player so he asked for a CD player with a radio. It also needed to be small and light enough to rest on on his chest and had to operate with batteries (2 x "AA"). Here are my observations:
Pros:
+ Inexpensive
+ Small Size
+ Long Battery Life
+ Easy To Use
+ Good FM Radio Reception
Cons:
- Cheap Plastic Look\Feel
- No Internal Speakers
This little CD player has worked great and more than met my expectations.
Recommended!

Buyer beware, Sep 21 2009

Do not buy this CD player. It allowed me to listen to 11 CDS and then quit working. The construction feels very flimsy and not well put together. The device is not that expensive but at the price should still hold up for longer than a few weeks. The last one I had from Sony lasted several years and cost about the same.

Played about 10 times then the laser stuck.
Had to take it apart then it worked once and stuck again.
I then took hammer to it and went and bought a Sony.
TOTAL JUNK!
