Not all its cracked up to be. Oct. 13 2010

Over all it is ok. But the voice commands are to slow for any thing but general device selection off / on. Voice is useless for freezing actions at an exact point. You must say the "words remote control" then wait for a beep then what you want to do. It does not find the codes for older TVs or DVR'S. But seems to find the new models fine. It does have a learn from other remote ability for learning one button at a time but has a 25 learn remote button limit. This is designed to fill in gaps in remotes that have special keys for exact models after basic keys are found by the codes. I have 2 TIVO series 2 DVRs a Toshiba and a Humax. It found a code that runs half the keys on the Toshiba, but none on the Humax. And not enough learning space to learn all the Humax never mind the other half of the Toshiba. but if you have all newer equipment and only want the remotes voice functions for basics channel up/down, go to espn, power in a non time required way it will do the job.

Not all its cracked up to be.

My sister has MS, so she cannot use her hands. Since April 2011 she is using this voice control remote. Now she is able to change all things on her TV. All is working fine and she is really happy.

Terrific remote! March 11 2011

I'm not exactly certain what problems others had with this particular remote control, but as a disabled person who is having an increasingly difficult time physically controlling all of my electronic devices, this remote is a godsend. Right now it controls my television set, and more importantly, my Comcast DVR. I'm hoping that I will be able to manage somehow to get it to recognize my PlayStation 3. On occasion, you have to be loud with your keyword, but so far it hears me and does as I command. I'm actually thinking about buying another one as a spare backup.

Works great for my 88 year old Mom Aug. 5 2011

My Mom is 88 and she finds a normal remote difficult following a small stroke. This remote solved a lot of problems for us. It's very easy to program and allows programming multiple commands to a single verbal command. So all she has to say is "Power" and both the TV and Satellite box turn on or off. If she says "CNN" her Satellite Box goes to the right channel. Love it.

Best Remote on Amazon at ANY Price! March 31 2012

I am in the process of automating my house so that I can give voice commands and the house will respond by turning the lights on/off, closing/opening the garage door, turning the fireplace on/off, etc. etc. The only thing that I couldn't do was to control the TV so I started looking for a remote control that used your voice to control the TV. I found a couple that cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars but that was way to much. Then on a whim I came here to Amazon to see if they had anything, and that's when I found this remote. At first I was excited because this remote had all the features that I required, but then I saw the $15.00 price and became concerned. At 15 bucks I thought it would be more of a toy, or that none of its features would work as described. Boy was I surpassed when I found out how incredibly well this voice remote worked. Right out of the box without training it to recognize my voice it was able to control my TV - all with just my voice! It has a help button on the remote and it actually `talks you through' every step, step by step, to help you to program the remote correctly. What a cool feature. I was up and running for everything that I needed in around 15 minutes. What a nice surprise!

After everything was working I took some time to look through the manual a little deeper, and I can tell you now that all of the complaints posted here about this remote are for the most part unfounded. These people simply didn't read the manual, and that's NOT the remotes fault. It only goes through batteries quickly if you don't program it correctly. A little common sense is in order here. It uses voice commands, so of course it needs to hear (listen) for your voice. There is a button that turns this feature on/off OR you can simply clap your hands to turn the remote on. This way it saves the batteries. You can even set the sensitivity of the mic (which at this price point is a very welcomed surprise). You do NOT have to say "remote control" to get it to respond, but you do have to give it a name so it knows that you want to give it a command. How else would it know that you're talking to it? There is a feature which allows you to name it ANYTHING that you want (yes, anything). So if you want to call your remote "Bob" - and you want to turn your TV on - then you would say "Bob" and it would make a sound to let you know that it's listening, and then you would say "TV Power" and the TV would magically turn on, all without touching anything. Pretty flawless actually. You can control a fair amount of things this way - all without ever touching the remote. I named my remote "Computer" after the computer that is in the TV show Star Trek. Now when I wake up in the morning I say "Computer, TV power" and the TV turns on. That's exactly what I wanted in a voice remote, and for a measly 15 bucks I don't think anyone should be complaining about this remote. I only took off one star because you can only teach it to do a pre-set amount of things, and after you start using voice commands you'll want to control everything this way, but other than that it's great. It DOES do what it says it does AS LONG as you read the manual and program it correctly. As I use this remote more and learn of its extra features I will update this review from time to time. This is definitely the best bargain currently on Amazon. It's not going to cook you dinner or do the laundry when you tell it to, BUT for turning on/off your TV, controlling the volume, changing channels, etc it does do these common remote commands flawlessly - all with just your simple voice command. Seriously, it's less than 15 bucks, life is good...
