5.0 out of 5 stars Red Seas Under Red Skies, Dec 10 2011
This review is from: RED SEAS UNDER RED SKIES (Paperback)
Scott Lynch continues the saga of the Gentleman Bastards in a gripping and fantastical way. This is a tale spun with imagination to the fullest; hard to put down once started. Looking forward to book 3.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clever, touching, even better than the first ..., Nov 27 2011
Scott Lynch is a genius... I have converted non fantasy fans to fantasy fans by giving them these 2 books. The second one is even better than the first, it explores the friendship between Jean and Locke even more deeply and it even more clever than the first one. The cliffhanger ending will have you salivating for the next book. This book is so good my life will not be complete until I read the next instalment. What more can I say? If you like fantasy, buy it. If you don't like fantasy, buy it. If you don't like reading books at all, what the heck are you doing reading this review anyway?

3.0 out of 5 stars Less than number one, April 16 2010

This novel is not up to its predecessor. Although generally workmanlike, the characters and settings don't astonish, they don't work, and ultimately, I put the book down before finishing it. Don't get me wrong, this is not a badly written book, just not up to the expectations raised by the first in the series. I do intend to buy the next instalment. And I expect it to measure up to the first.
