Review

"Hypnotically readable...Frank Lauria has written the most believable vampire and werewolf stories I have ever read."
—William S. Burroughs

Product Description

In this installment of the Doctor Orient Occult series, Dr. Owen Orient, the psychic detective, cures a senator's daughter of a fatal disease and then goes underground to become enlightened. He ends up at a protest, where he meets a psychic child and a bookie. The bookie eventually hires him to deliver a package by steamship, and it is on this voyage that he meets Raga Six, a vampire who has been undead for hundreds of years. He falls in love with her, tries to protect her from evil forces, and hones his psychic powers. After discerning her real identity and witnessing the destruction she causes, he sets out to defeat her magically.

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational, fascinating, & even-handedly informative, Sep 11 2003
This review is from: Raga Six (Paperback)
Especially recommended as supplemental reading for students of contemporary international studies arising from the current "war on terrorism", 9 Of 1: A Window To The World is a graphic novel style history about a teacher who assigns nine students to interview a variety of people, and in the process they learn an amazing selection of diverse perspectives and ways understanding the world about them. Educational, fascinating, even-handedly informative, and suitable for all readers of ages and backgrounds, this contemplative read accessibly explores the many ways in which humans live their lives in an upbeat and engrossing manner.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book but, Jan 3 2011

This review is from: Raga Six (Paperback)
The first and last time that I read this book before I was in the 8th grade. It was great then but I see things now that I must not have seen then. A lot of the in-depth details about Dr. Orient's routines seem labored and contrived.

An editor would have been nice, too. There are many times that the wrong word was used but it was spelled correctly and started with the same letter.
