I purchased (Nov 2012) this product (Raidmax RX-700AC Blackstone 700W) because of my excellent experiences with the 500W models. The power output is as stated on the RX-700AC, but the cooling fan did not start turning on one occasion because the circuit that slows the fan to reduce the noise is not tuned correctly; it needs more initial speed to overcome the force of the permanent magnet and the torque required to start the 120mm fan spinning. The PSU in general always runs far too hot in my opinion. I am worried that it will not last. I can smell the scent of overheating circuits almost constantly. I have installed an auxiliary 120mm fan into the case that is feeding a direct flow of cool air from the front top bays towards the PSU intake screen to help the matter. I have waited for this amount of time to write my review as I noticed these issues within the first few hours and I wanted to see what would happen. Had I not had other fans feeding air into the case, that one time the PSU fan did not spinup, it would have most definitely burned out the PSU.

(update Mar 2013): The power supply is still working but often when I restart my computer I have to reach through the grill and give the fan a little help to start with a thin wire to get the fan spinning (grrr). If I forget I can tell because the scent of roasting circuitry starts soon thereafter. I sincerely hope they resolve this tiny problem (just a matter of changing one resister value in a circuit) for this otherwise excellent product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not sure anymore Jan 30 2013

The power supply worked perfectly for several months but recently it's begun making a LOT of noise. There's an obnoxious vibrating/buzzing that I can't seem to rid myself; it also appeared rather suddenly and unexpectedly. Hopefully the PSU isn't dying and I can figure out how to fix the new problem, because this product has been good for quite some time now.

Does everything it should. Have been using it now in a gaming rig with AMD's latest 8 core processor. Works as it should.
