Synopsis

Heavy metal founding fathers Rainbow take the stage of Germany's Munich Olympiahalle in this release of a concert captured live in October of 1977. Front-man Ronnie James Dio and guitarist Ritchie Blackmore bring the band together for a number of hard-rocking hits including "Kill the King", "Sixteenth Century Greensleeves", "Man on the Silver Mountain", and "Do You Close Your Eyes". Bonus promotional music videos for "Long Live Rock and Roll", "Gates o Babylon", and "L.A. Connection" keep the music coming, and additional interviews with Colin Hart and Bob Daisley as well as a photo gallery and a slide show with audio commentary provide fans with a special peek behind the scenes. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

5.0 out of 5 stars A Masterpiece!, Oct 9 2006

It's such a pity that only a few people in America know Rainbow. I think this is the group which influenced the most of the modern metal together with Deep Purple, of course. But the first three Rainbow albums are a step further and I think this is the first power metal group. Ritchie Blackmore is one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters of all time. He discovered many of the musicians who defined heavy metal in the years to follow like Ronnie James Dio, Cozy Powell, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes etc. It doesn't mean that when a group does not exist anymore should be forgotten. Thanks to Dio we can still hear many Rainbow songs live. This DVD is a proof of Rainbow's greatness. Songs like Kill The King, Gates of Babylon, Catch the Rainbow, Man on the Silver Mountain are the ultimate rock anthems of the late seventies

4.0 out of 5 stars A flashback to another era, July 8 2009

Rainbow are one of the great bands of the 70's. This live album gives you a good taste of what a Richie Blackmore onslaught was like with Ronnie James Dio howling at his best. An old school headbangers' delight.
