I saw a copy of this on my local BestBy store for $10. Seeing that I got a pre-paid gift card on me, I decided to buy this and play it for awhile. This is an "Encore" published version, so it doesn't have all the paper manuals of the original UbiSoft version. The manuals are in the PDF format and is inside the disc. Version number of the game is 1.03 I believe, but the latest is 1.06 on the web. I have never played the original version, but I can say that this is a very polished game, with smooth gameplay and nice graphics. It crashed 2 times so far when loading, so that's not too bad. My system is more than adequate for this game and produces nice framerates (it's currently running on wide-screen @ 1680x1050,16:10, max resolution). I didn't try out the multi-player system yet, as I'm not quite seasoned enough.
For those of you who thinks this is a typical Unreal/Doom type FPS, think again. This is a more realistic tactical FPS that requires squad-mates and cover system to survive. I actually like this better, as it's a lot like Mass-Effect and Gears of War. I end of using my right-mouse button (cover) more than the left-mouse button (fire weapon). The big thing I don't like is that the weapons are pretty much the same, as there are some really redundant guns. I would prefer a system where the guns are more unique and hence, more special. For the price I paid, I've been spending hours trying to perfect my play. This is definitely worth a price (I last saw the original UbiSoft version selling for $7)!
System: Intel E8200 (3.0GHz)/2GB RAM/ATI 4380/Windows XP.

I loved Rainbow Six Vegas, this seems way different. The graphics are a bit diff, the AI acts different, and feels likes it missing something. I should play it more, but its not as smooth as the first game at all. so dont spend more than $10 at most for it, i see it for $6 or less a lot. The first game while older, is a must buy for Rainbow Six fans.

Yeah, this is an older title to be reviewing, but I'm moreso commenting on the fact that it does, indeed, run brilliantly on my Windows 7 OS. There are a few issues with flickering and lighting if you return to the desktop, or what have you. Also came with all the maps that you have to otherwise pay for on the console.
Great game, been playing for 3+ years.
(Enemy A.I. is still either too smart/too dumb to the extreme side of whichever spectrum, but meh....)
