Book Description

Aug. 1 2011
When trust turns into betrayal, stability turns into chaos... Marshall Connors longs for a return to the days when nobody cared about him or who he knew, when he was nothing more than a major league baseball umpire, calling 'em like he saw 'em, a footnote and not a headline, when the game, baseball, was all that mattered, the days when things were fun. But his life has been something of a movie the past few years. An assignment to work the World Series nearly ended in tragedy for Marshall and a few others in his life, courtesy of a revenge seeking maniacal serial killer. During the season that followed, chaos came again in the form of a mentally unstable ex-FBI agent. The near-death experiences extracted a heavy toll. Marshall lost his mentor, he lost his girlfriend, but more than that, he lost a lot of his innocence. His world was no longer the grass and dirt and smells of the ballpark. It was something darker, a place he would never willingly choose to be. And now, it's happening again... A man from Marshall's darkness has returned. An explosion rocks the world. A suicide takes place. People are dead and dying, but nothing is as it seems. Confusion reigns and Marshall is once more in the middle of it, unsure of the connections, but wanting very much to not know what they are: Links in a chain started years ago, by a man Marshall trusts like no other. As the links are revealed, trust becomes betrayal, stability becomes chaos, and Marshall must do all he can to avoid being pulled under for the last time. He must break the chain, he must find an out... He needs a RALLY KILLER.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just one book in an excellent series! Feb. 20 2014

I "met" the author of this book on twitter. He's a fellow Phillies fan, so when the opportunity arose to get the first book in this series for free, I just on it! Of course, it was a no-brainer that I absolutely had to buy the other two! As long as you are a baseball fan, I know you will enjoy this series immensely! Well written and keeps your interest the whole way through! I'm hoping there will be a fourth book in this series in the future.

Enjoyable, well written story with good character development and pacing. I cared about what happened as it unfolded, and it's not just for baseball fans. A well done read. I look forward to more from Allen Schatz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Sad this is the last of the series! Aug. 25 2011

Wow Allen has done it once again and this is the best of the 3 in the series. It was like it's over? That was a fast paced fantabulous thriller story of mystery, murder, a little romance and a suicide. Again baseball is in the background of the story, this makes for a different and interesting story and you don't even have to like baseball to love this story or the series!!!! Dick Francis is to horseracing compared to what Allen has done with baseball! You won't regret getting this one with the "who dunnit" and the twist and turns to keep you interested!

Look, I know Allen, or at least... I'm familiar with him. We met somewhere along the digital highway and I've been a fan ever since. I keep his name up on my Facebook wall... like a trophy of sorts. Why? Because ALLEN SCHATZ can write.

I mean really, he CAN write. Let's establish that right up front. There are writers, and then... well, there are pretenders. ALLEN SCHATZ is the real deal, and I would sign him in a New York Minute if I thought he'd take the deal.

It's that simple, really. ALLEN is an AUTHOR.... I would not be here wasting my time if i thought otherwise.

DEADBALL was my first experience with him, and in that work, Schatz had me from the first page while I read about his main character standing on the pitcher's mound ... I was hooked. We have an inside joke, ALLEN and I... if I make it in Hollywood first, I'll produce or publish his work, and well, he is supposed to keep that same deal around a similar set of circumstances.

DEALS are like BLOOD OATHS, you either keep them, or rover will chomp at your heels for eternity.

We made that deal three years ago as I had just finished reading DEADBALL on a 747 red eye headed for Los Angeles where I was to pitch yet another screenplay i'd written. That was five scrips and two agents ago. I've learned a lot since then, but I never forgot the talent from Milmont, Pennsylvania.

So.. once again,RALLY KILLER was in my hand on a run from Miami to JFK, and well, RALLY was a home run with the
BASES LOADED, which made my experience with RALLY KILLER a GRAND SLAM.

Are you going to play ball, or not?
