Berlin's industrial metal sextet Rammstein was already provocative when the band nabbed unwanted U.S. press attention as favorites of the two young sociopaths behind 1999's tragic high school shootings in Columbine, Colorado. This concert video, expertly produced during a huge outdoor concert the previous summer, won't dissipate the tension between Rammstein's fans and social critics looking to find the links between such violence and the band's intense, sweeping music, especially on this uncensored edit of their nearly 100-minute set.
Sonically, the band lashes the clangorous legacy of industrial countrymen like Einsturzende Neubaten to the simpler, head-banging power chords of metallurgists like the Scorpions, Rammstein's front line of rasping, squealing guitars laced with synthesizer and pummeled by splashy drum work. The music's focal point is vocalist Till Lindemann, who half-sings, half-bellows in a guttural bass that makes most metal men sound like countertenors, an effect underscored by Lindemann's beefy, muscular physique as he stalks the stage. His macho growl and restless movement contrast with the largely motionless postures of his bandmates, which include a vampiric guitarist, a rail-thin keyboardist, and an even more spectral, bald bassist whose black-taped skull nods to S&M couture.
A massive stage set that's one part Borg, one part Blade Runner, onstage pyrotechnics, and piercing klieg lights that sweep the vast crowd pointedly synthesize Third Reich with apocalypse as rapturous fans sing along with "Du Hast" ("You Hate") or "Heirate Mich" ("Worship Me"). When the mesmerizing sturm und drang finally pauses, it's due to a graphic, simulated homosexual rape (on "Bueck Dich") that earns this tape its advisory, and will repulse all but the most ardent fans. --Sam Sutherland --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Is this suitable for children? No. But it is not meant for children. It is meant for teens and other adults.
I am a 54 year old grandmother who NEVER watches anything with sadistic sex or sadistic violence of any kind, and I am VERY strict about following age/content guidelines with children.
That said, this video is just incredibly good. The music is first rate and the stage performance is electrifying. This is the best performance I have ever seen and I recommend it to anyone who appreciates great music and superlative theater. You will not be disappointed.
I envy anyone who has ever seen Rammstein live, but at least we fans are fortunate that this video is available.
Don't be afraid to buy the video. It is worth every penny and it will bear repeated viewings without becoming boring.
To put it simply. AWESOME!!!!! I have seen a few live shows but not a whole lot and from the start Rammstein keeps you interested no matter what. I must admit I was a bit disappointed that they removed Buck Dich from the DVD due to content. But like the others before me have said the extras make up for the loss.
Their first song Speil mit mir is an awesome way to start it off. The fans get into the song and Til does an unbelievable performance. What am I saying they all do an unbelievable performance. Its hard to pick favorite songs from this DVD because they are all great songs. But to be honest I would have to choose Wilder Wein. It is such a moving song words alone can't describe it and Klavier makes Rammstein one of the most unique bands to date. I don't know how to explain it but that is how I feel.
Du Hast. Why is this misinterpreted? IT MEANS YOU HAVE. NOT YOU HATE.
Heirate Mich. Again this is misinterpreted. IT MEANS MARRY ME. Not whatever Sam translated it to. A good way of finding out what the song titles mean either go to [...] or [...]
From its stunning and rhythmic music to guest appearances from Christiane Bobolina Herbold for the song Engel and to Til's daughter Khira for the song Tier. Then there is their pyrotechnics that makes the DVD that much more worth while to buy and so with out further ado THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR YOUR LIVE COLLECTION.
The dvd contains 17 tracks from their albums Herzeleid and Sehnsucht(done live)and the extra features you get the concert with german subtitles and you get a multicamera mode for the 3 songs Tier, Du Hast and Rammstein. With the multicamera mode you get a choice of 6 angles which lets you decide what you would like to mostly see e.g. directors cut, guitars, drums, bass and keys, wides and vocals. Another extra feature you get is a 14:30 interview with the band. The interview allows you to have a choice of subtitles including English, Spanish and French, and if your computer can read dvd's you can insert this dvd and you view a rammstein trivia fan contest containing 140 questions.
The performance was great. Rammstein perform with a great deal of colourful lights and mist and there is a great use of fire at the concert. The dvd lets you see all the action including the violence and as a special treat for the fans, rammstein use explosives, flame throwers, flaming arrows and fireworks and the main highlights of the dvd are the tracks Rammstein were Till Lindeman(singer) performs on fire(using safety clothesing) and another highlight is Engel were the guitarists daughter plays as the girl in the cage with fire. My favourite performance is Du Riechst So Gut were Till Lindeman(singer) shoots flaming arrows at the beginning of the song. Another great thing about the performance is that Till Lindeman(singer) didn't just stand there and sing, he sang while acting like that people can understand the message he is trying to get across.
The crowd is good aswell, they are very loud.Read more ›
