Super Video, excellent quality audio / Video. Very good performance. Highly recommended. I don't understand why this has to be 20 words.... weird....I did put in my comments...that is it.

This is a wonderful live DVD. My husband and I have watched it three times in the past 10 days. Good old rock and roll.

The extras are worth the price of admission... Aug. 31 2007
By T. LeBaron - Published on
Format: DVD
My only complaint about this CBC-TV special package is that too many of the songs performed during the program are not complete versions of the songs. Granted, it was only an hour-long special, but the full songs would have been preferred over some of the condensed versions that appear here. The alternative would have been to travel into Montreal on a Tuesday night to see whqat was already a sold-out show that I didn't find out about soon enough to get tickets for (unrestricted by the timing of a television special, I'm assuming we would have gotten the full songs). The good news is the extra stuff that didn't air on the show is very much worth the cost of this package: their version of Marvin gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me", the updated "American Woman" (which they so kindly included on their "Jukebox" CD) and a few other songs that made me wish the show had been a 90-minute special (or even two hours). These guys have earned a lot more than this special gave us in just one hour...but the extras are a very sweet bonus that make up for most of that.

I confess to being a diehard Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman fan, but this is such a great DVD. Both of these guys look wonderful - and the music is nostalgic and new at the same time. Their comraderie and genuine fondness for each other makes this performance even more special - thank the music gods for keeping these two incredible talents working together after all this time. We are so lucky to be here for it.

Bachman & Cummings Better Than Ever! April 22 2008
By Donna Kraft - Published on
Format: DVD
First Time Around was an absolute treat, with Randy & Burton reminising, and showing such undeniable respect for each other while they fondly spoke of past influences and experiences tied to their early '60's songwriting episodes and touring adventures. The music was excellent and laced with harmonies so relevent to the era, and a visual delight. The boys have not lost their touch, and the band was incredibly on the mark. This DVD will knock your socks off and I only hope that Messrs. Bachman / Cummings consider giving us fans another taste of their talent in a more extended version in the near future. Don't Pass this one by!

No disappointments here! Dec 22 2007
By Indello - Published on

I'd be willing to bet it's "bestcdhead"'s ears that are shot....cause it certainly ain't Burton Cumming's voice! I've sat with numerous people and watched this DVD and the unanimous and enthusiastic first comment is always "Burton's voice is as fantastic as ever!" In fact, I saw them live at Hamilton Place this year and I have never been so entertained by anything in my life! Of all the live theatre, musicals and concerts I have been to....nothing compared to it. The audience rocked and hooted through essentially the same set as is on this DVD, with some additional songs included, and I've never seen a happier crowd exit a show at concert's end. It's a much smaller and more intimate gathering of people on this DVD but there is still fantastic singing and playing and a most appreciative audience throughout. I highly recommend this DVD to anyone.

One of my favorites ... and here's why: June 25 2012

When I first saw this on the shelf of my local DVD planet (remember when there were record, CD DVD shops?) I was tempted but passed. I recently was inclined to check this out after viewing the Bachman & Turner DVD Live at the Roseland Ballroom NYC [Blu-ray] as I wanted more of Randy Bachman to view. This program was great from the start and gets better and better.... goodness the program firstly is filmed in a special set that is easy on the eyes, with great sound and Bachman is in fine voice and plays well...but the HUGE surprise was Burton Cummings. WOW ...his vocal on the classic Guess Who song "Undone" is not only impressive to my ears but Randy Bachman is seen mouthing WOW! as it concludes and rightfully so...Cummings is the true treasure on this DVD. Cummings plays piano, Drums, Guitar, a flute solo in the before mentioned "Undone" and sings with his multi octave and very unique voice a way that had my jaded jaw dropping over and over.

This isn't hype over substance...what we have are two brilliant songwriters and multi instrumentalists discussing the creation of iconic pop songs and performing them to a high HIGH standard... this is talent folks and class and to top it all off Randy plays a new song of his "Our Leaves are Green Again" which is easily one of the most beautiful marriages of melody and word I've heard in my half century of loving music.

This is the equivalent of the old school masters showing how its truly done. This DVD has become a special part of my collection and one of my most prized! HIGHLY recommended.
