B-Rated Movie heaven, Oct 20 2010
By Bennet Pomerantz "Bennet Pomerantz, AUDIOWORLD" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Rare Cult Cinema (DVD)
Crown International Pictures is primarily known for low budget flicks, grindhouse cinema, biker films, exploitation films, and B-movie drive in fare. This collection is a showcase of what CIP was all about,
This 12 film collection has a little bit of every type of B fare that you would see in a drive from the 60's thru the 90's. some star vehicles and some with unknowns. What makes this collection entertaining is its a mish-mash of everything.
Three of the best (and my favorites) on this collection are the Kidnapping of the President, Deathrow Gameshow and Road to Nashville. President has an all star cast (Hal Holbrook, William Shatner, Ava Gardner and Van Johnson) in a cat and mouse poltical thriller. Gameshow is a satire in a similar vein to The Running Man [Blu-ray]. Nashville is an all star country concert with Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
There are other stars in this best of Drive-in Noir like Susan (Rich Man, Poor Man: The Complete Collection) Blakely, Adam West, Glenn Ford, and the Rifleman's Johnny Crawford.
There is a genre for anyone is this collection..so get it

YOUNG GRADUATES in widescreen, but only on certain TVs, Jan 5 2011
By Jobla - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Rare Cult Cinema (DVD)
This set does offer decent variety of genres, as has been said here. However, the transfer of THE YOUNG GRADUATES only "unsqueezes" to widescreen on some TVs. For example, it looked fine on my widescreen high-def TV monitor, but wouldn't unsqueeze on my other TV, an older Sony Trinitron model. So, a word of caution: if you want to see the film letterboxed, you'll probably need a newer TV or monitor.
The previous release of THE YOUNG GRADUATES didn't suffer from that inconsistency. The widescreen 1:78-1 image played fine on all TVs. However, that release was somewhat hard to find, available only via mail order. It went out of print fairly quickly. That release was a box set entitled DRIVE-IN CULT CLASSICS VOL. 4, from the defunct BCI label.
