LOVE this book. The recipes are easy to follow, with ingredients you can actually find and the pictures are a must. I love having a picture to go by when trying new recipes. I definitely "judge a book by its cover" in this instance. I love this book. Highly recommend!

HASH(0x99e7eac8) out of 5 stars I want to love it July 9 2013

There are so many amazing and yummy looking recipes in this book but you need to have a dehydrator and I would guess a pretty good one. I did make the "fudge" which does not require a dehydrator and it was terrific. I want to have the full RAW experience but I think I will need to throw down some bucks not just for the equipment but also the ingredients. I would not recommend going cheap on the nuts or nut butters that are required in these recipes as the whole purpose of eating RAW is to preserve the integrity of the food and most verified producers of Fair Trade and Organic products are very expensive. Also, the prep and processing time seems like a serious commitment. This is for the meticulous and committed RAW foodie but for the rest of us it appears that the effort and expense may be well worth it. I just gotta work this into my budget....

HASH(0x9a3480f0) out of 5 stars No Index? Unacceptable! Nov. 7 2014

I recently discovered raw "baking" and wanted to add to my repertoire of raw cookbooks. Purchased this one and while flipping through I felt many of the recipes looked good and easily doable. However, when I wanted to look for recipes with specific ingredients, I looked to the index and discovered there is not one! I really dislike a cookbook with a poor index, but no index at all? That's unacceptable.

In reviewing further, I note that there is no information on storage or how long items can be held. I'm going to dehydrate the biscotti that I want to make after work. How long will it hold? Should it be refrigerated? Can it be frozen without lessening taste/texture/quality? And I find myself repeatedly looking for information that should be contained in the index. Does she recommend making raw oat flour and does she have instructions for that? How do I make coconut cream? I did see a recipe for that in another raw book with an INDEX so I can find it again. These recipes look good and I'm anxious to try them but this book could be so much better. And one more thing, most people who want a raw dessert are health-conscious. Nutritional information would be a nice touch but I'm not going to sweat the author about that.

Update: Made the chocolate/orange cake. Very pretty. While preparing it I was a bit shocked at the amount of agave nectar called for in the recipe and found that it is too sweet for me. I will cut it in half next time.

HASH(0x9a514048) out of 5 stars Don't buy from Amazon May 21 2014

Love Susan Powers recipes so this is such a shame. When downloading, a few of her recipes have the list of ingredients with a symbol % instead of the quantity! which is of no help at all. As well as that in about 2 other recipes the instructions are coming up with the letter V instead of how much of the mixture. This book was downloaded onto my Kindle App on my iPad.

This is a great book that has delectable recipes. So many people feel that gluten free desserts are yucky. Anyone can enjoy these recipes. I have brought them to functions and have been told that I'll be the designated dessert person.Recommended for gluten free, diabetics, anyone and everyone.
