5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, Jun 7 2011

This review is from: Razer Onza Tournament Edition Gaming Controller for Xbox 360 - Dragon Age II (Personal Computers)
The programmable buttons are not "fully" programmable however. If you program it to a "side" button for example a trigger or a stick click it will automatically assign to the trigger/stick on the same side as the button. The other complaint is that the D-Pad sits high enough that it can get in the way of hitting the back buttons. Other than those complaints the controller is an amazing controller... I love the tension adjustability.

Oh and one caution be wary of how you hold your fingers or you might pinch them with the trigger. I have had to adapt a bit. But wouldn't go back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great controller for Dragon Age 2/Bioware fan!, May 8 2011
By The Illusive Man - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Razer Onza Tournament Edition Gaming Controller for Xbox 360 - Dragon Age II (Personal Computers)
I've owned this controller for a little over a month now, played games like Call of Duty: Black Ops, Dragon Age 2, The Adventures of Captain Smiley, Portal:Still Alive and countless demos.

First the good/great things about the controller:

+The controller and the top of the analog sticks are coated in rubber, similar to the Call of Duty:Black Ops controller; the Onza is not as coated as thick as the BO controller and it makes the Onza GREAT for marathon gaming sessions.

+15 ft long cord is plenty long enough if you are worried about length when compared to the wired or wireless M$ version.

+The cord is braided to combat the cord from getting tangled and to help to keep it from getting frayed.

+XYAB buttons plus bumpers are clicky buttons that give with a satisfying click when the button/s are pressed.

+Mappable shoulder buttons work well once you train your self to use them(they are GREAT for games like Call of Duty or even some action games that require the face buttons when in combat).

+Slightly longer thumb sticks than the standard M$ controller. I no longer use the FPS Freek attachment/s( I don't need them now with longer sticks)

+You can recalibrate your Onza controllers to the increased sensitivity of the 45 degree calibration(VERY sensitive!, should get rid of any "dead zone" if you are experiencing this)compared to 90 degree of the official controller. The Onza is configure to the 90 degree out of the box.

+The Triggers are very sensitive only need to pull trigger about 1/2 way to register a button push.

+Comes with Ring of Whispers DLC for Dragon Age 2

+ Dragon Age 2 graphics

The Bad:
-You cannot use the M$ Chat pad with the controller.

-When using the wired headset when someone in your party or game is done speaking there is a faint click sound after they are done speaking.(this does not bother me too much, because it lets me know when they are completely done speaking).

-To me the worst thing about the controller is the D-Pad. It works excellent for game like Call of Duty and other FPS games. The D-Pad is not very good for fighting games or action/arcade games if you are using it to control the character.

The reason for this is because the D-pad are four individual buttons instead of the flat like on the 360, it is similar to the ps2/3 D-pad but the issue with the Onza is the buttons are raised up too high from the controller, if it was flush with the controller or close to flush it would be great.

The Average:

=The Light up face buttons. They are nice but when turning the controller to certain angle you can see the light shine through.

=The Start and Back buttons are moved to the bottom of the controller, not terrible to me you get used to the spot eventually.

=The placing of the bumpers and multi function buttons are too close together(in the beginning to me) I have gotten used to the buttons now and it is second nature to use them.

=It is wired(not Razer's fault M$ does not allow 3rd party manufacturers to make wireless controllers.)

Overall, The Razer Onza controller is a great alternative to the stock Microsoft controller, it even bests the official controller is some areas. It is a excellent first effort by Razer and I am looking forward to any future revisions to this series of controllers. Great controller for Dragon Age 2/Bioware fan!

2.0 out of 5 stars Great product...in theory at least., Oct 22 2011

This review is from: Razer Onza Tournament Edition Gaming Controller for Xbox 360 - Dragon Age II (Personal Computers)
I bought 2 of these and replaced both twice. I love the hyperresponse buttons I think all controllers should have them. There's a great feel to actually hearing your click from each button press. They are also extremely easy to press so your fingers won't get tied down hammering "B" to beat down someone. The cable that comes with it feels really good as it is braided and has a huge length. A lot of people complain and say the controller feels cheap, I disagree. It feels light. I appreciate that so I don't have to pick up a 5 pound controller. The coating is nice nothing super special but a nice touch nonetheless. I really like the D-pad. It was a little sticky at first but wearing it in made it work better and better (like new speakers needing that initial wear in time). The shoulder buttons are great I never really used the added one but I could see its use. I HATED the triggers. They have an awkward position. They sit slightly too far out to comfortably grasp the controller and aim/shoot (and I have pretty large hands). Lastly the adjustable analog sticks are great. HOWEVER, they also are the problem. While I loved adjusting the sticks for FPS and for RPG (I like FPS loose and RPG really tight) both times I had them, the triggers would get stuck forward. Initially I replaced one and thought maybe I had been sprinting too much in my games (not from lightweight/marathon lol), but then both replacements stopped working within two days. I am extremely good with my technology. Still use the original controllers I got with my xbox 3 years ago. It pains me to complain about a Razer product but there really is no excuse for this problem occurring. I have seen it in other reviews so buyer be wary. I will say if you are willing to gamble I really enjoyed the product while I was able to use it. Really hope Razer fixes it because they are a local company from my town and their other products have been highly touted by gaming communities and myself. Hope this was useful.

The reason I got this controller is because razer has amazing pc items like mice and headsets. I have had this controller for 2 weeks and Loved it until the right trigger stopped working right. I work 14 hrs a day 6 days a week, so I don't get to game long and it still only lasted 2 WEEKS! I expected better from razer.
