4.0 out of 5 stars good step-by-step instruction, Jan 16 2012

This review is from: Realistic Watercolor Portraits: How to Paint a Variety of Ages and Ethnicities (Hardcover)
I was very pleased with this book as there was no space wasted with a big discussion of paints, paper, etc nor on drawing techniques. I have other books that cover all of that material. This book is made up of nine portraits broken down into about 15 steps each. The author mentions all the colours of paint used and makes good suggestions about composition, suggested brush size, and technique. A wide range of skin tones are covered. I would have liked a little more detail on painting the hair and eyes and would have prefered a soft cover edition, otherwise I would highly recommend this book.

This is one of the best books that really demonstrates how to do what is on its hard covers. Unlike the other books of the same subject the Author takes you step by step to the final results. The only recommendation that I would say to the Author is to add the DVD for more instructions for those who cannot just follow the written guidelines and pictures.
