This book is excellent for the person contemplating

I used this book to help determine what type of pet I wanted and how to take care of it. This book was extremely helpful and it was fun reading about other exotic pets. It does a great job of summarizing care for each type of animal but you cannot raise an animal based on the information in this book alone
