"Bedtime Prayers" is a marvelous book for children. The book starts with a note to parents. It refers to the Good Shepherd of the Holy Scriptures and explains the goal of helping children to pray. Although I am not an expert in teaching small children, I feel that it is possible to help a child learn to pray at a very young age.

"Bedtime Prayers" is an delightful book of prayers for small children. "Bedtime Prayers" acts as a sort of aid for parents interested in teaching prayer. The way each lesson is structured it so easy to get beyond rote prayers and, as the child matures, advance to meditative prayer and conversational prayer.

Each "lesson" highlights an aspect of the "Good Shepherd". The concept is told in rhyme followed by a simple prayer. I can see different uses. A parent could show the illustration to the child and then read it like a bedtime story with a prayer ending. A parent could read the rhyme and talk with the child about the concepts featured in the rhyme, then pray the prayer with the child.

Some of the prayer topics are: "The Shepard" Listens; "The Shepard" Loves;
"The Shepard" Smiles; "The Shepard" cares; and "The Shepard" Blesses.

I plan on using this book with my three year old grandson. Through repetition, I know he will begin to learn the prayer lessons. I highly recommend this book.

This book has the good message that I expected to see from DaySpring, with the adorable illustrations seen in the other "Really Woolly" children's books.

The book is very sturdy (if even a little bit heavy) with a nice "padded" cover. It should last indefinitely, even with less-than-gentle handling by young kids.

Highly recommended book for anyone looking for a devotional to share with a young child.

I'm always looking for ways to incorporate Bible lessons and stories into my childrens' lives. My nearly-3-year-old was the target audience for this book. She enjoyed it. She liked looking at the pictures and listening to me read. It was nice for us to read together just before bed. Although it's not one of the books she asks for me to read over and over, she does enjoy it when I select it for our nighttime routine. I recommend this to parents of preschoolers.
