Have the Mormons ever left you unsure of what to say? Their arguments are convincing, their teachings seem indisputable, and their stand on what they believe is firm. How can you effectively communicate to the Mormons that their gospel does not match up with the Bible? One of the best ways is to ask penetrating questions.

Cult experts Ron Rhodes and Marian Bodine will help you understand the main points of Mormonism and discover where it falls short of God's truth. They then equip you to ask strategic questions that challenge...

  • the Mormon claim to be the only true church
  • the reliability of Mormon prophets
  • the authenticity of the Book of Mormon
  • Jesus' supposed visit to ancient America
  • the Mormon view of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit
  • and much more

You'll find Reasoning from the Scriptures with the Mormons a valuable guide to responding to Mormons with confidence!

Very tightly argued, well documented comparison of Mormon and Christian scriptures. Easy to use and understand. A good primer and a good reference book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Reference on Mormonism Nov. 12 2003
By Greg H.
Format:Paperback
This is the ultimate reference book on Mormonism. It covers all the intricacies and is extremely detailed. I've read at least 10 Mormon analysis books and am pretty well versed in the subject. This book IS accurate, despite what some might say. But not all Mormons know in detail what their religion teaches.
And you really DO need a book to tell you what Mormons believe. They will NOT tell you what they believe because they have different definitions of generally accepted Christian words, so right away we're speaking a different language. Simple words -- like salvation, sin, heaven, eternal life -- have very differnt meanings under Mormonism.
Plus, they won't tell you some of their beliefs that sound crazy to Christians until they think you're "ready" for those. Before talking with Mormons (and I encourage you do to so) it is MANDITORY that you do some background reading. Otherwise, you'll be on a completely different page with your discussion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fine book July 31 2003

Format:Paperback
Thank you for a fine book to reason with the people that come to my door to try to change my faith into THEIRS. When I see a "bad mouthing" of this type of book, I feel sorry for the angry individual. It is okay for them to try to sway Christians away from the truth, but not okay for us to stand up and be heard? If someone comes preaching at my door I want to be ready to deal well with them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative Oct. 29 2003
Format:Paperback
Reasoning from the Scriptures gives a thorough analysis of Latter Day Saint doctrine. I read the entire book and then sent it to a non-Mormon friend who lives in Utah.
However, some sensational language in the book seems like an effort to prejudice Christians against Mormonism beyond the necessary understanding of doctrinal problems. The book would not be appropriate for Mormons, who might be turned off by occasional references to objectionable Mormon doctrines which are now obsolete.

5.0 out of 5 stars all answers are always ready for you July 29 2003
Format:Paperback
I bought it, I read partily which I want to know what does mormon exactly teach, this book has lot of details why they believe in their teaching in old and modern. in additional, they were taught in old mormon teaching but not same to modern mormonism, in fact both are different. many mormon friends of mine keep telling me all mormon churches use MODERN mormonism only. I had asked my friends who are mormon, they disagreed with it, but another of my mormon friend agreed with it. It does not make sense between with old mormonism and modern mormonism...
I highly recommended this book, it has everything what you need to know

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb book on Mormonism! May 20 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
As a former devout and temple worthy Mormon Elder, I was thrilled to find this book. The best book I've found on Mormonism that accurately and fairly represents their beliefs vs. biblical teachings...and I've read quite a few.
What I found so helpful is that the authors take you scripture by scripture, showing clearly and logically the accurate meaning of biblical passages while fairly presenting the Mormon interpretation/explanation as well.
For example, I'd always believed that the bible had somehow been "tampered" with over the years. And yet, the authors explain how there are nearly 24,000 (that's right...24,000) copies, fragments or quotes from other sources that verify the complete accuracy of what's written in our bibles today.Amazing! In other words, what our bibles say today is exactly and precisely what the prophets, Jesus and his apostles wrote thousands of years ago!
How sad for me, then, to discover that Mormon doctrine is a complete distortion of this, a dangerous "other" or "false" gospel to what Christ and his apostles actually preached.
Simply put, this book is an absolute must read for anyone investigating, questioning or otherwise wanting to know more about the Mormon church and it's completely unique teachings.
If you only buy one book on Mormonism, make it this book. You won't be disappointed. I just wish I'd found this book when it was first published in 1995...

1.0 out of 5 stars terrible
it's funny, you know, the basis of pretty much all the arguments against Mormonism rises out of the idea that we don't follow "traditional Christianity." Well DUH!
