It can be a bit of a challenge to squeeze a short, meaningful 40K story into the format of an audio. Rest assured that this is a solid tale that captured the atmosphere of the Sisters of Battle and the 40K universe. I liked the Sisters and even the Cog Boy. It has a surprise I didn't see coming, and the ending wasn't as bleak as I'd feared.A 40K novice could easily listen to this story as their introduction to the 40K book and audio series and probably enjoy it much more than being dropped in the middle of a Space Marine drama.
Okay Black Library, crank out some more Sisters of Battle, please!

I"m not sure of the exact running time of this disc. The story was good if you're a fan of genre. However, it lacked the visceral, gut-churning battle sequences we've come to associate with the Warhammer 40,000 Universe. The tale introduces an aspect of technology heretofore (to my knowledge) un-dealt with in the WH40k setting. The Sisters of Our Martyred Lady mix it up with some clones and make some hard choices.I felt the cult-angle should have been developed more. The intrigue was passive as best. I enjoyed it, listened to it twice in two days, but it was light on character development. The protagonist lacks a solid character arc. She does what is expected of her, making the tale predictable and really taking away from her growth.
