Having read the first book, 'Starrigger', finding this next book of the story was like opening a door into true wonderment, so much that I went back and reread the first one....followed by reading this one again! Only after I had finished both that once again set out to find the next book. A very good read...one that stays with you!

Great read, needs first and third in series to fill out, Jun 21 1998

This book is a great sci-fi read, but the first and third in the series are critical so that you're not lost. It reads well as a standalone, if you don't mind that fact, but as a trilogy, this book and Starrigger and Paradox Alley make a fantastic weekend read.

Red Limit Freeway is an excellent read, Feb 4 2012

Red Limit Freeway by John DeChancie is the 2nd novel of the Starrigger trilogy. As such, it continues the story, but does not complete it; in fact, it ends with a cliffhanger that is picked up in the 3rd novel, Paradox Alley. There is some exposition interspersed in the first couple of chapters to refresh the memory of those who did not read Starrigger immediately before. The characters are well fleshed out and easy to identify with. The plot moves along fairly quickly, with action, introspection, romance, philosophy, and some answers to some fundamental questions about the Skyway posed in the novel Starrigger. It was written in the 1980s, but the story holds up very well over 25 years later. I highly recommend it, although readers should also have the other 2 novels in the trilogy to complete the story.
