Not as good as the Manor House Companion but worth having Oct. 23 2011
By Jill - Published on Amazon.com

Though I didn't care that much for this particular "House" program, I'm very interested in the Regency era and thought the companion book would be useful, as I'd found the Manor House companion book to be terrific. I found though that this book was not as informative about the Regency era in general as the Manor House companion book is about the Edwardian era in general. The Regency House Party companion book focuses more on the show, the participants and their experiences, which would be of high interest I should think to fans of the program. There is still enough general information about the Regency to please me, and the pictures are lovely, so I'm happy to have the book, especially for such a bargain price. I would like to have seen more stills of the interiors, and the work that went into transforming them back to the Regency period (did the owner keep some of the changes afterward?) as well as more descriptions of the costumes and how they came by them - some I gather are from past Jane Austen adaptations.

Beautifully written and depicted volumn giving a real sense of life during the Regency period. If only our own society could be so gracious and well ordered. Strongly recommended.
