Another Great Book from Lesley Crewe!,
By
This review is from: Relative Happiness (Paperback)
Relative Happiness is the second book I have read by Lesley Crewe (the other being Ava Comes Home). This was another delightful book from this author. Crewe wastes no time in introducing entertaining and interesting characters who are real in their flaws and their humour. This book is placed in Cape Breton and it offered a genuine look at life on this sea-swept island. I didn't want to put this one down. While a few things are perhaps expected by the reader, there were several twists and turns that were completely unexpected and added to the depth of the story. Crewe has become one of my favourite Canadian authors. On to her next book, Shoot Me!

Read one chapter, can't read any more...,
By Ronnie Mac - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Relative Happiness (Paperback)
Hi, I'm all for supporting local authors, and as I'm from NS, I thought I'd give this a try. Reading the back cover had me fairly interested, I thought it would be an intelligent chick-lit type story. No. I have read 20 pages, and can't read one more sentence....it's not chick lit, it's not literary fiction, I'm not sure what it is. The language is stilted, the main character's voice does not ring true, it's just OFF. There are even typos and grammatical errors. Give this one a pass!
