It's funny, I'm reading reviews for this movie where people say they liked the movie despite the ending. I actually liked this movie because of the ending. If not for the ending, this would have been another totally drab moody flick. It was well acted, it was certainly emotional, but I thought the ending tied it up nicely, for lack of better word, considering the subject matter. I didn't think they exploited the situation at all, I didn't think it was hokey or anything, I thought it was good (again, for lack of better word. It sounds odd to use words like nice and good in this context, but I can't think of another way to say it).
As an aside, I almost didn't watch this movie because I knew the guy from Twilight was in it and I just hate that series. But Robert Pattinson was quite enjoyable in this movie. He had a lot of charm. It was the first time I actually saw why people (specifically ladies) like him.
Hope that helps.
