5.0 out of 5 stars Leap Over the Kanji Wall July 30 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I've been learning Japanese for a few years, but kanji has always held me down.

"Remembering the Kanji 1" takes a daunting task and breaks it down into a reasonable system ensuring that you remember how to write ALL of the Japanese kanji. I've had the book for less than a week and am able to write about 10% of the 2200 kanji presented.

I ordered the second volume and, so long as it's as effective as the first, expect to be able to read-and-write kanji with much greater efficiency than my prior efforts allowed in significantly less time! This first volume is effective for what it sets out to do (getting you writing), and even if the second volume is terrible I will have still cut my learning time in half!

5.0 out of 5 stars Learn and *remember* Jan. 12 2012
By Nil
Format:Paperback
I don't usualy write review, but this book really helps me. I now know and remember 200 kanji (writing and meaning), thanks to Heisig and my determination. The kanji are ordered by memory difficulty and not by usefulness. It is muck easier to learn that way! You will learn the kanji for gall bladder before the one for sister, water, etc. which may seems strange, but it's really a good way to remember them. I don't think I could learn all the joyo kanji wihtout Heisig's method.

4.0 out of 5 stars So far so good June 19 2014

I misunderstood when I bought this book. I thought it will teach both writing and reading. However, so far so good I already know more than 200 kanji and meaning in less than a week.
After I finish this book I will definitely buy the second book.
