April 3 2012 Kat, Incorrigible (Book 2)
The feisty Kat Stephenson is back in the second installment of the Regency era magical trilogy Kirkus Reviews calls “enjoyable mayhem.”

Nowhere in England is safe from the mischief and magic of Kat Stephenson: Her eldest sister has finally wed, but when a scandalous accusation threatens the marriage prospects of Kat’s second sister, Angeline, Stepmama swiftly whisks the family away to Bath in an attempt to outrun the gossip and betroth Angeline to a respectable suitor. Meanwhile, Kat’s utter lack of ladylike propriety has prompted the powerful Lord Ravenscroft to expel her from the magical Order of Guardians—before her training has even begun! Anger and exile aside, Kat knows something is not quite right about Lord Ravenscroft. Her insatiable curiosity and fierce loyalty to her family will have readers rooting for her all the way as Kat attempts to reunite Angeline with her true love and prove that she has what it truly takes to be a Guardian.

Product Description

Review

"Kat Stephenson, incorrigible as ever, returns to sow more magical chaos in a Regency England where families tainted by witchcraft are shunned in polite Society...this rollicking tale is neither historical fiction nor literary retread. Recommended for readers who like their fantasy seasoned with feisty characters and nonstop action."

--Kirkus Reviews, February 15, 2012

"This fast-paced fantasy will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Tweens will sympathize with her struggles to control her impulses and gain respect from the adults in her life. Though this is the second volume in a series, it stands well on its own, and the research into early-19th-century England shines through without detracting from the nimble plotting. This combination of history and fantasy is sure to please.”

School Library Journal, March 2012

“Regency romance meets Harry Potter with a strong jolt of twenty-first-century feminism in this second novel in the Kat, Incorrigible series….The lovely details—Roman baths, detailed costumes, and the seamy underside of Oxford student life—will have readers swooning all over again.”

Booklist, March 15, 2012

"Kat is a feisty heroine.... She is fiercely loyal, stubborn, funny, and incredibly likable. Readers will root for her throughout her magical adventures. This imaginative and original series set in Regency-era England will appeal to fans of historical fiction, romance, fantasy, and adventure. Renegade Magic will leave readers clamoring for the third and final installment of Kat's adventures."

VOYA, April 2012

“Kat Stephenson returns for more magical adventures in Regency England in this diverting middle-grade fantasy novel, sequel to Kat, Incorrigible…. All together, a fun romp for fantasy and Regency fans of all ages.”

LOCUS, July 2012

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! April 3 2012
By E. M. Tippetts - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
The only reason I'm not down as a verified purchaser is because I had the privilege of reading it before it came out, and I have since bought myself the UK hardcopy and then multiple copies of this Kindle edition for other people, I loved it that much. I read a *lot* of books, have read this one once, over a year ago, yet I can still remember the opening scene (Kat and her brother sneaking out to spar), Kat's unorthodox entry into Bath, the wild magic, the suspense of shuffling through town while invisible, all of it. I can even remember little details, like the quality of the water in the Pump Room and the sisters' sarcastic comments as they bought a glass, and no, I did not pick up my copy to check these details. In order for a book to impress itself on my memory like that, it has to be brilliant.

I also read Northanger Abbey after this book, and it was funny how much more I could understand of Regency Era Bath thanks to Renegade Magic. The author does such an elegant job of explaining without stopping the action or sounding didactic.

And yes, I also design the tie in jewelry for these books, but note that I chose to do this because I loved the books, not the other way around. I'm lucky to know a lot of great authors, but I especially wanted to design for this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly delightful and charming April 3 2012
By Debz - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Such a wonderful sequel to the fully original Kat, Incorrigible. After the fiasco that happens at sister Elissa's wedding, Kat and her family take a trip to Bath. There Kat discovers that the Roman Baths are more than what they seem, with a magical and dangerous secret waiting to be uncovered.

While I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the first, I still found it utterly delightful and charming. The characters were lots of fun to read. The old and new ones alike were such fun to read about. For some reason my favorite characters in these books are the stuffy old ladies who have nothing better to do than criticize Kat for all her misdeeds.
I enjoy being in Kat's world so much. The writing is descriptive and pleasant. It painted a clear image in my mind's eye. Along with an exciting storyline, there's a history lesson tucked beneath it. There's much to learn about the Roman Bath's, as well as just ordinary life in Regency England (though Kat's life is far from ordinary!)
I strongly recommend Kat, Incorrigible to just about anyone, and once you've fallen in love with it, give Renegade Magic a try! You won't be disappointed!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read for Middle-Graders May 12 2013
By 1110cg - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I liked this book even more than the first, Kat Incorrigible. It had very realistic feeling history of England in the 1800's. Middle-Graders would enjoy it. I am excited to read the next book in the series, Stolen Magic.
