It is September 1998 and the action centers on the ill-fated Raccoon City. When the Umbrella Corporation learns that one of its top scientists, Dr. William Birkin, plans to sell the experimental G-Virus to the US Government they order an elite team of Umbrella Security Service (U.S.S.) soldiers led by Hunk into their secret research facility to secure the only known sample of the virus. The operation takes a turn for the worse when Dr. Birkin injects himself with the last vial, mutating into a deadly creature, G-Birkin and over powering the team. During the battle the deadly T-Virus is leaked into the sewers and spread through Raccoon City, infecting the entire population.

Hearing of the outbreak, the U.S.S. team is given fresh orders to destroy all evidence of Umbrella's involvement and silence anyone that might discover the truth. The Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.) are also deployed to help contain the situation. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of special operatives to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Caught up in the chaos are rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City blends classic Horror-Survival gameplay with third-person team-based Shooter action. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Soldier (U.S.S.) and battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City. Choose from six characters, each one equipped with a unique skill set, including the female field scientist Four-Eyes who can manipulate the T-Virus and take control of the B.O.W.'s raiding the streets of Raccoon City or the weapons expert and U.S.S. Team captain Lupo. The game also offers four-player co-op play, and the online Heroes Mode which allows for play as classic Resident Evil characters, such as Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, HUNK, Jill Valentine and others.

Key Game Features

5.0 out of 5 stars A pleasant carry-over from Res 5 to 6 April 14 2012

While it's true that the game is shorter than you might like, it's still pretty fun. The characters are interesting, having a four-man team is a blessing (most of the time), and melee fighting finally has its merits. ;)

I would whole-heartedly recommend this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good! March 21 2012

I can't understand the bad reviews this game got. The single player campagne is short and not very challenging but still fun to play and makes me addicted to the game. I want to play the levels over and over again just to get more XP and buy better gear for my characters.

These XP can also be used in the multiplayer, which is the main part of the game. Four people vs. four people vs. lots of zombies ... sounds great? IT IS!!!! The levels and atmosphere fits RE perfectly and supports the gameplay and immersion. The moments when a zombie kills your opponent just before he kills you are amazing.

Also I like the idea of being the bad guys and working for Umbrella. This offers cool new gameplay ideas and a setting in the Resident Evil universe that was never seen in such a way before.

Well, I have to go back and kill some more zombies ... having too much fun with it ^^.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game Dec 7 2013
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3|Verified Purchase
Was a very solid game although I wish the characters had more development than they did. It seemed to me that it didn't matter who you played as and any back story they had was not used at all. Good video game, nice to play as the bad guys but terrible for building new character bios.

1.0 out of 5 stars Craptacularly Aweful March 22 2012
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3

Dear Fellow Amazonians,

Please avoid this game at all costs. There are less than 8
hours of game play in a regular play through!
Capcom expects you to either "enjoy the replay value" or
play online (most likely with some zitfaced 13 year old who
thinks Justin Bieber and using the F word on the team chat is the height of sophistication).
The AI is terrible, leveling is redundant and finding optional data items to get more experience
is just stupid (lets look for a tiny glinting object so that we can get 50 extra exp!)

And the story is BAD.

So very bad.

At some point, logic, and Rez Evil cannon was just thrown out the window.
The end fight asks you to make a choice, which arbitrarily
splits you and your team into opposing factions. There's no exposition
regarding this, just what snippets of "motivation" you can catch your
AI team members yelling.

Don't worry about filling in plot holes from the first 3 games,
there are no major revelations that are worth the almost $60!

Wait for Rez Evil 6 to get your fix

p.s. do not buy this stupid game.... it's stupid, and I can't give it less than 1 star

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful awful game Sept. 15 2012
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
OMG this game had so much potential it lacked all of it, i played on casual imagine casual and still got killed could not get passed chapter 3 where you need to install some EMPs on some generators, so many zombies and special ops i got killed like 10 times. I cannot beleive they make games for casual gamers hard like this simply stupid. This game shooting is flawed too.

I hate this game plain and simple and if RE6 is like this i won't buy it either.
