i bought this cd with all anathema's albums . i returne it because i notice it is " best of " album part 1 .
i bought it again because i discover this album is not just a regular "best of " album - this album has great pure sound and six trucks you cant find in their oiginal albums , " far away" ( acoustic version , "eternity part 3 ( acoustic version)
track 9&11 ( one of the few & goodbye cruel world- roger waters ) , " the silent enigma ( orchestral version ) . those tracks fit to the other tracks in this special album - pure side of anathema , and angelica ( live in bodapest 1997 that not fit but you cant find it in the original album - take it as a bonus track)
(you can find here olso a videu enhanced track - hope if you want ) together 7 tracks ( from 16) you cant find in the original albums so you cant give this pure album less than 5 stars if you a fan . if you didnt heard anathema before ( or their old albums maybe this album is not for you - those tracks writen with talent . this band , and this album specially remind us pink floyd but also had perfected a unique style (you can't find in this album anything from " judgement " " a fine day to exit " , their new album or even not from" the silent enigma" so if you like only those albums so this is not for you . if you want something diferent from anathema ( more acoustic guitars , piano less electric guitars) you can find it in "resonance "
if you think this album has something else do not write a bad review on this album like the other did just take my advise and do not search here for something it hasn't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
enjoy this!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Unique Best of Album May 14 2002
Format:Audio CD
Im gonna be frank here. This review is getting bad reviews, people are [upset] that Peaceville has cheated its fans out of money with this peice of [junk] best of album.

However I disagree with the masses, this album kicks [butt] and is my favorite doom metal cd that i own. The beauty of it is that is so quiet and so incredibly mellow that its a treat to listen to. The album starts off with a short instrumental song and then goes on to, two great songs with female vocals, j'fait une promesse being one of the best on the album.

The two most popular songs on the album or of course the acoustic versions of far away and eternity (part 3), also great songs.

This is my sleeping album and to tell you the truth I have never slept better then when I fall asleep with this album. This really is the ultimate chill out album.

The songs are also very catchy after a few listens. One problem with it is that its a bit short, the songs are often just over 1 minute long making go by a bit fast.

This isn't your typical best of album and I recommend it to any doom metal fan. I still recommend the full length albums over it but this one still should not be missed.

1.0 out of 5 stars WHY!!!! Oct 27 2001
Format:Audio CD
Why did peaceville (anathema's former record company) need to cheat anathema's fans out of (money) by releasing such a load of garbage. Personally, everything anathema released before "eternity" is worthless (which takes up the vast majority of this "compilation"....

With peaceville releasing this at the same time as anathema released their "proper" new album, "a fine day to exit", fans will be confused... maybe accidentely buying this piece of garbage... buy anything they released from "eternity" on....

mp3 swapping programs such as napster were created for albums like this.... nobody should have to pay for this....
