The product I was shipped was not the retrobit product as shown in the picture, but a very similar controller made by Tomee. I ordered two of these and the first one worked well enough, but the second one would think I was pressing two directions when in fact I was only pressing one direction. The quality of the product is pretty bad, search for the Buffalo classic controller instead.

Let's see I ordered this in March and it's now June and the controller doesn't work anymore. The D-Pad was also really crappy. When you went to move left or right you very often went up or down making platforming games a pain as you very often ducked when you wanted to move forward.

Controller worked for a few days until the solder point on the main bored broke. Fix it up only to have it stop working again for no electronic reason I can find.

Garbage.

At face value, this controller is a fairly faithful recreation of the Super Nintendo controller. It seems however, the quality assurance process is somewhat lacking; using the down button on the controller I received is an effort in extreme frustration, requiring so much force it's almost painful to actually realize the command. This makes fast paced games almost impossible, and was even frustrating in an RPG like Final Fantasy.

I absolutely love the idea of having this exact product and having to return it makes me deeply dissapointed but I cannot live with its shortcomings. I ordered 2 of them in the hopes that my young son could be introduced to some of the games I loved as a child. Sadly, the D-Pad is temperamental at best, when using the controller as I always had, and even tested side by side with my friends real SNES, we found this device couldn't hold a candle to what it emulates. Diagonal presses would not actuate correctly 90% of the time, and anything but the most careful (read: too slow to be functional) of presses in the absolute Up, Down, Left and Right directions would often register as the wrong direction. On both of the devices I had ordered, I had to press the down arrow very hard and slightly to the left to get it in to work consistently. Top down games like Zelda and Harvest Moon are nearly unplayable, and you might eventually adjust for games like Mario but the only way I can fathom this company showing sales is the rise of Retro love on the internet. I assume most of their un-returned sales are to people who bought these as gifts or who bought them because they fancied themselves a nerd but hardly if ever use them.

Sadly, after 2 official return orders and a few exchanged emails, they told me they would be happy to send them back to me (unreplaced, because they apparently couldn't replicate the issue) but upon me clarifying exactly what was wrong, their only reply "It appears the issue is with the design of the Retrolink USB SNES Controller's buttons." and they offered me a refund of the purchase price which I am sadly going to accept, but I presume I will never see the money it cost to send their junk back to them.

Overall this is a very good gamepad, and since I grew up with the real Super Nintendo, I have a pretty solid point of reference. The setup in Windows was dirt simple - drivers installed automatically, was ready to use in moments. Configuring the controller itself in any software is necessary to map your controls, but that's normal.

My only complaint is that the directional pad on one of the two that I bought has a very small amount of, I guess I'll call it 'input pollution' between the 'down' direction and the 'left' and 'right' ones. If I don't press the 'down' direction on the pad pretty prcisely, the pad will sway a bit over to one side or the other, which in some games makes precision very tough. Once you get used to it, you just learn to be a bit careful with that one. My other controller doesn't do the same thing (of the two I bought).

This was the first USB controller I bought to play some ROMs, I've since bought a couple N64 ones as well - these are still he easiest to use and certainly worth the low price if you miss playing Donkey Kong Country like I did :).

The controller feels kind of light and cheap.
Which the D-Pad definitely is.
After getting this and hoping for a good one.
I didn't get one.
But I've heard of people getting one with a good D-Pad.

***SO BUYER BEWARE***

I haven't tested it but I recommend getting the USB attachment that allows you to plug a REGULAR SNES controller into your USB slot. I've heard good things about it. And I wish I knew about it before I purchased this.

Just to elaborate on the D-pad.
When you push left or right (Left is the worst on mine).
It will unless you are like dead perfect with pushing left...
It will completely abort with the whole left thing and push up. Likewise with right.
It's not even a combination of up and left/right.

It's terrible for those tight situations in Video Games.

the d-pad was not that good the down button got stuck sometimes which really sucked. I got this and the NES controller my opinion the NES controller worked better.
