Book Description

Jan 18 2009
America finds itself in a time of crisis. For anyone remotely in touch with the state of our republic, there is a growing sense of dread that whatever is wrong is getting much worse much faster. Voters clamor for "change," and politicians promise to deliver, but does anyone really know what changes are necessary, or even what changes they want? Is America still the land of opportunity? Is it still the land of the free? Do we still know what freedom is? This book attempts to answer those questions. To do so, it goes back to the beginning to rediscover the meaning behind our most sacred words, and the truth about our natural rights. The answers that this book provides will surprise even the most informed reader, and will reveal the long-forgotten secret behind America's former prosperity and greatness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Congressman Ron Paul, Peter Schiff, and Wayne Allyn Root Reviews Mar 15 2009
By Thomas J. Mullen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
"Thomas Mullen is a knowledgeable and passionate libertarian and A Return to Common Sense is a valuable addition to the libertarian literature. Those new to the freedom movement will benefit from Tom's introduction to both the practical and moral arguments for freedom. Long-time activists will benefit from Tom's explanation of why strict adherence to principle is vital to the future success of the liberty movement."

- Representative Ron Paul (TX-14)
Congressman and author of The Revolution: A Manifesto and End the Fed.

"A well written primer on economics, liberty, and government that even avid Austrians will enjoy. If you have been blinded by government and Wall Street propaganda, A Return to Common Sense will help open your eyes. I not only recommend that you add this book to your freedom library, but that you buy a few copies for your friends."

- Peter Schiff, President of Euro Pacific Capital, Inc and author of Crash Proof: How to Profit from the Coming Economic Collapse.

"In a time of national crisis, everyone is looking for the right politician to solve America's problems. A Return to Common Sense proves that it is not just the wrong people, but the wrong philosophy that has corrupted our government and derailed our freedom and prosperity. Like Thomas Paine's original, this book clearly and simply explains the timeless philosophy of liberty in language that every American will understand. The road back to freedom begins with A Return to Common Sense."

- Wayne Allyn Root, 2008 Libertarian Party Vice-Presidential Candidate and author of Conscience of a Libertarian: Empowering the Citizen Revolution with God, Guns, Gambling & Tax Cuts (2009)

5.0 out of 5 stars A timely work that inspires Sep 4 2009
By Keith Druckenmiller - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is not just another book about America loosing its way. In A Return to Common Sense, Tom Mullen cuts through propaganda and false choices to focus on the heart of exactly how our country strayed from our founding fathers' vision and how to get back on track. It is a superbly written book defending the inalienable rights that have been violated for far too long. Awaken the liberty-loving patriot inside you and read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE book to read on the American Crisis Jan 3 2010
By Randall T. Malboeuf - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A really great read! I could not put it down. Just coming off of reading what I considered to be the best book I ever read (The Left, The Right & The State by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.) I was figuring it would be a couple of books before I found one that I liked as much. I was happy that this book was just that. This is definitely the book that all Americans need to read and reread often. I'm going to pick up another copy to share with my family and friends. I think Tom has not only given the best explanation of what is wrong in this country but also the best common sense approach to fixing things. He brings so much together in this book from so many great teachers, Frederic Bastiat, John Locke, Thomas Jefferson, Ron Paul, Murray Rothbard, Peter Schiff...and many others but the best part of everything was HIS take on things, HIS explanation of things, done in HIS writing style that I've enjoyed ever since stumbling on to his articles. As much as Meltdown by Thomas Woods is THE book to read on the current economic crisis, A Return to Common Sense is THE book to read on the American Crisis.
