Wonderful to have the Rankin Family back!,
By Canadian Celtic Music (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reunion (Audio CD)
It's so wonderful to have new music by The Rankin Family again! This album contains the same wonderful harmonies one has come to know the group for. Although John Morris wasn't able to contribute to the new material, the group has included a piano medley and a fiddle medley that were recorded for the CBC Radio in the early 90's. John Morris' daughter Molly is also a part of the project, with one of the songs she has written "Sunset" included with her singing lead on it. Covers of Gordon Lightfoot and John Hiatt songs are included as well. Looking forward to seeing the Rankin Family live during their Canadian tour in Jan-Feb 2007! Take the opportunity to see them live as this may be your only chance, as they say it's a one-time only tour/CD!

Reunion Rankin Family,
A Kid's Review - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Reunion (Digi) (Audio CD)
The Rankin family reunites eight years later and the CD delivers lovely traditional celtic tunes with the harmony that only this family brings to the stage. There are fiddle and piano tracks that John Morris taped before his death. Sunset, written and sung by his daughter Molly, as she plays the guitar while backed up by family members brought tears to my eyes. Molly delivers like her dad and family. The old tunes mixed in with the new find me playing this CD over and over and waiting for the next!!!

Better and Better,
By Standish A. Price "Miles of smiles" - Published on Amazon.com

The Rankins have given us beautiful music from their very first CD, but Rankin Family Reunion outshines all the rest. I was afraid we'd never hear from them again as a family after John Morris' death, but not only do we get a new CD with no repeats, but one that shows that their voices and music age and blend like fine Scotch. I hope they never deprive us for so long again. It's a sin to let such talent go unheard.

I am so glad that the Rankin Family is finally back. After the tragedy of losing John Morris, the family stopped recording for several years. This is their first release since then, and there is a haunting maturity to their voices and harmonies. I love this CD, and look forward to more releases from them.
