Book Description

March 2 2007 Rick Steves
Designed specifically for Rick's travel audience (or users) these maps highlight choice destinations throughout Europe, from Lisbon to Warsaw, Bergen to Crete, in a colorful, easy-to-use format on high-quality paper that lasts over many trips:

- Cuts the Clutter: While big cities are left for navigational purposes, this map is otherwise stripped clean and filled in only with places that matter to travelers.
- Guidebook-Friendly: At a glance, all the places you read about in Rick's guidebooks pop right out in a crisp, easy-to-read format.
- Rail or Road: Includes important train lines and highways for easy route-planning, no matter how you'll get around.
- The Back's Even Better: The reverse side includes a handy rail time/cost map and 24 regional close-up maps.

5.0 out of 5 stars impressed April 15 2012

This map is exactly what I wanted. It's detailed, includes all cities, towns, railroads, highways etc. On the reverse side it contains several large cities and lists their sights. It also has a map of Europe by rail indicating cost and time between places. It's made of really good quality paper.

Nice compact map covering all the major sites that Rick mentions in his guidebooks and TV shows, and the level of detail was about perfect for planning my backpacking/train trip. The problem I have is when it's called a "Europe Map" I expect to get a map of Europe, i.e. all of it. This map only covers the western and central part of Europe up to Hungary/Slovakia/part of Poland, and is cut off after that. It doesn't cover many of the countries in eastern Europe that I was interested in for my grand tour, including Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia , Albania, Kosovo and Serbia which is strange because Rick's shows try to promote these lesser-travelled to areas and you have to pass through them if you're going between the more "popular" destinations, such as between Greece and Austria for example, or if you wanted to pass through mainland Europe on your way to Russia. Also, quite inconveniently, you have to flip the map over if you want to see Greece and Turkey, which makes it difficult if you're trying to plan routes in that part. I like Rick Steves for the most part but this map was a bit of a disappointment. I've gone back to my "overly detailed but at least it's all there" European road map for drivers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rick Steves' Europe Map Oct. 17 2012

Lousy, this shows only half the continent, western europe. Mislabelled.
The title and my needs were that all countries right up to the Artic Circle and all the way east should have been included.

5.0 out of 5 stars Travel dreams July 24 2013
Format:Map|Verified Purchase
This map is made of a good paper that doesn't rip easily. It is easy to carry but I find I look at it at home more often to dream about future travel.
