5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating journey to Delphi, Nov 9 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Ring of Fire: A Novel of the Delphi Oracle (Paperback)
If you have ever wondered what it might have been like at the Temple of the Oracle at ancient Delphi, here is a fascinating historical novel that will take you there. Author Marline Haleff follows the rise of the neophyte Daelia into the higher echelons of temple hierarchy.

Once inside the temple, the magical use of snakes as oracles is ingeniously explained. As guardians and oracles they served Delphi and the ancient world in their own unique magical-dream-world way. I'll never think of a snake the same way again!

Daelia's challenges, both personal and political, are met with oracular powers. She must eventually use the Ring of Fire to save the great spirit of Delphi from Barbarian invaders... a great book that highlights ancient Goddess traditions!
