This concert arrived at blu ray with 1080i/AVC-MPEG-4 1.78:1 encode. It was filmed on June 24, 2005 as an episode of PBS's 'Soundstage' series, presented at the newly restored Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, Illinois, and broadcast in 2005 as part of the Soundstage series jointly produced by WTTW, the PBS station in Chicago, and HD Ready.
From the first shot of the (then) recently renovated Genessee Theatre in Waukegan, Illinois, you will notice the popping bright vibrant colours projected on the drapes, walls and backdrops. Colours, contrast and black levels are solid throughout the entire show. There is fine clarity, detail and vivid colour. (4/5)
There are two choices: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 or LPCM Stereo. I personally prefer the lossless DTS track, which is dynamic and rich, plus being fully immersive, utilizing every channel in the best way possible. The thick Gibson guitar solos are just as audible as the bass riffs. The same goes for the harmonica, keyboard, drums, saxophones and star-shaped tambourines. You can always hear it all. Just as you can hear every instrument at any given time, none of the vocals are lost in the mix, only making the several-part harmonies sound exquisite. (4.5/5)
The former Beatles drummer is accompanied on stage by his band, the Roundheads, as well as special guests (meaning they only show up for a song or two) Colin Hay of Men at Work and Hay's wife, the talented salsa and soul vocalist Cecilia Noel. With nearly a dozen musicians on stage, I can honestly say that this is the best that Ringo has ever sounded without the rest of the Beatles.
Ringo did a fantastic job in this abbreviated concert.Read more ›

Among the Beatles songs executed by the group are ones on which Ringo Starr sang lead vocals as a Beatle, or for which he is credited as co-writer of the song: With A Little Help From My Friends, Yellow Submarine, Act Naturally, Don't Pass Me By and Octopus's Garden.
While a good Beatles tribute band like "Rain" is around to delight audiences for many more years it's special to watch a real Beatle on stage leading his own band-the real McCoy. Audio and video quality, as well as performance are all excellent.
