Rio is an upcoming 2011 3D Brazilian/American computer-animated film from 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios. It is directed by Carlos Saldanha and written by Don Rhymer. The characters are voiced by Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Rodngo Santoro, Kate del Castillo, Jamie Foxx, Tracy Morgan, George Lopez, Leslie Mann, Jemaine Clement, Jane Lynch, and Robin Thicke. The film's expected release is on April 15, 2011. This is Blue Sky Studios' first film made in 2.35:1 Cinemascope aspect ratio and 20th Century Fox's fourth 2.35:1 animated film. Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) is a rare species of blue macaw resident at a bookstore in Moose Lake, Minnesota, who is the last of his kind. When scientists learn that another macaw was spotted in South America and that the macaw, Jewel (Anne Hathaway) is female, they take him out of Minnesota and send him to Rio de Janeiro to meet her. While there, he learns to confront his fear of flying in order to win her heart. Along the way, they get kidnapped by poachers to sell them to get a fortune. After they escape, they try to avoid the thieves and their pet cockatoo Nigel (Jemaine Clement) with help from Rafael, a wise Toucan (George Lopez); Luiz, a bulldog (Tracy Morgan); Linda, Blu's owner (Leslie Mann); Flora, a whooping crane (Wanda Sykes); Pedro, a redhead bird (will.i.am); and Nico, a small yellow canary (Jamie Foxx).

Rio (OST)...thanks to Sergio Mendez, the colourful sound of Brazil was brought to life!

Rio the movie (blu ray) has been reviewed by myself and was given 5 stars for both video and audio. It is impossible to think about this movie without its music. Sergio Mendes and John Powell's musical partnership brought RIO to life with their magical and colourful sounds. The audio is very well remastered, with the efforts of many inidivual talents coming together to make this colourful sound possible.
There are 13 tracks in this CD. The first song Real In Rio was nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar, but unfortunately lost to The Muppets. Music is by Sergio Mendes, John Powell, Carhinhos Brown and Mikael Mutti, and the lyrics was by Siedah Garrett. You may ask: Who is Siedah Garrett, anyway? She was the lady who sang backup vocal to Michael Jackson's No. 1 hit I Just Can't Stop Loving You in 1987. She certainly has come a long way. I should also mention about the performers: Jesse Eisenberg, Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, George Lopez, will.i.am & The Rio Singers. The movie and the songs came alive with their talented voices!
