At first, I was a bit concern with the quality. Many reviews suggest its a hit and miss with these scanners. After receiving the part and having a hands on experience, I can say this is an excellent product. It fits perfectly on my 97 Integra. The connection to the car wasn't too tight, and wasn't too loose. It paired to my Nexus 7 via the keycode 1234. The car's ECU started sending information to the android tablet instantly. For a car geek like me, I couldn't be more happier.

One thing to note is that Torque reported the chip as v1.4. I didn't care if it is 1.4 or 1.5 as long as it worked.

At first, I tried using this device with the free version of TORQUE ("Torque Lite") that I downloaded from the Google Play store. And even though the Bluetooth pairing worked well, the app on my phone was unable to communicate with the device. I was starting to get frustrated and disappointed when I noticed there was a version of the TORQUE app included on the CD provided by RioRand. I installed that one on my phone and the app worked at the first try. No issues so far, and I have been able to diagnose and clear my very first "Check Engine" warning on my Mini Cooper.
On top of diagnosing "check engine" errors, it impresses me the amount of information I can get with this scanner in combination with the Torque app: Speed, acceleration, gas consumption, RPMs, vacuum readings, temperature, G force,.. the list goes on.

For the price this is a decent product, and when it works it works quite well, and despite the statement to the contrary, mine paired with my Nexus 7 (1st gen) just fine, not just my laptop.

The reason that I purchased this was to be able to wirelessly connect to my car, and to that of my girlfriend. To my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix, the only issue that I had was that I had to forget then re-pair the Bluetooth connection each time it lost power.

On the 2003 VW Jetta (gas not diesel), the connection would show up just long enough to poll the ECU, but would lose connection and require re-pairing again... rinse and repeat. I'm thinking it may just be her car, but I can't be sure as the other scanners that I have are all wired.

So far it's only the requirement to forget and re-pair that brings this down from being a really good product in my opinion. its a process that started as a quirk and progressed to frustrating quickly. From what I have found it's a common issue with BT adapters that use a generic MAC address.(eg. 11:22:33:AA:BB:CC)

Worked as advertised when I intially got it, but it has since stopped working. It cannot maintain a Bluetooth connection. I never used it much either, but when I went to use it because I needed it, no such luck. I've tried different apps and different vehicles, but the result is always the same.

The software install went well and Rd9 paired easily but could not communicate with ECA on a 2000 Saturn. Tried a tablet and a Galaxy 5. Same problem.Downloaded ODB access tester app and it confirmed no communication. Item was defective

Received the package well before estimated delivery date. Careful packaging to protect the adapter.

Tried several different OBDII apps (Torque, Car Gauge, Scanmaster, OBDdoctor etc.) to connect with this adapter. The performance is good. Tried Torque track logging. The speed is fast. Happy to see many useful information of the car condition.

Only issue of the adapter is, the bluetooth pairing needs to be reset each time after it was disconnected from ECU connector. Guess the adapter doesn't have a proper memory to keep the bluetooth pairing information.

Overall experience with adapter is good. Recommend it to Android smartphone users.
