At first, I tried using this device with the free version of TORQUE ("Torque Lite") that I downloaded from the Google Play store. And even though the Bluetooth pairing worked well, the app on my phone was unable to communicate with the device. I was starting to get frustrated and disappointed when I noticed there was a version of the TORQUE app included on the CD provided by RioRand. I installed that one on my phone and the app worked at the first try. No issues so far, and I have been able to diagnose and clear my very first "Check Engine" warning on my Mini Cooper.
On top of diagnosing "check engine" errors, it impresses me the amount of information I can get with this scanner in combination with the Torque app: Speed, acceleration, gas consumption, RPMs, vacuum readings, temperature, G force,.. the list goes on.

Worked as advertised when I intially got it, but it has since stopped working. It cannot maintain a Bluetooth connection. I never used it much either, but when I went to use it because I needed it, no such luck. I've tried different apps and different vehicles, but the result is always the same.

Received the package well before estimated delivery date. Careful packaging to protect the adapter.

Tried several different OBDII apps (Torque, Car Gauge, Scanmaster, OBDdoctor etc.) to connect with this adapter. The performance is good. Tried Torque track logging. The speed is fast. Happy to see many useful information of the car condition.

Only issue of the adapter is, the bluetooth pairing needs to be reset each time after it was disconnected from ECU connector. Guess the adapter doesn't have a proper memory to keep the bluetooth pairing information.

Overall experience with adapter is good. Recommend it to Android smartphone users.

The software install went well and Rd9 paired easily but could not communicate with ECA on a 2000 Saturn. Tried a tablet and a Galaxy 5. Same problem.Downloaded ODB access tester app and it confirmed no communication. Item was defective

I connected this device using bluetooth to my Samsung Note 2 and it paired immediately. I used the password 1234 (it wasn't listed anywhere). After setting up the "torque" android app, it provided all kinds of information that I didn't even know I could get from my 2000 GMC savana van.

I can also see where this device would be extremely handy if you are buying a used car and wanted to see if there are any codes stored in the computer.

well worth the money!

I purchased this product as I already know I have an issue with my catalytic converter though wanted to ensure this was the issue every time my engine light went off instead of paying the dealership $70 to check it every time.

I wouldn’t say I’m particularly knowledgeable about the workings of a vehicle though I feel like I’ve gained some confidence with this product. I started out just as other reviewers recommended and downloaded the Torque app, though I forked out the $5 for the paid version. I found the place to plug it in my vehicle and the blue tooth on my Samsung Galaxy III immediately identified this product. I entered the code 1234 and the app started picking up information right away. Now I just leave it plugged in and my phone starts tracking the information as soon as I get in the car.

I love that I can easily identify the cause of my check engine light and can clear it. The only thing I wish was a bit more expansive is the “Test Results” section of the Torque app. The information offered is great for those knowledgeable about codes and readings though for someone like me it’s a bunch of gibberish, so it’s a challenge to try to determine if there’s something I should be really concerned about. But again this is not necessarily the fault of the product but rather something I feel they can expand on through the Torque app. Otherwise it’s a great buy that already has saved me a couple hundred dollars on my check engine light alone.

The RioRand RD9 scanner is EXCELLENT!!

If you came here for an adapter that'll work with Torque, you've found it.

I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much out of this product...

I am a service advisor at a Porsche, Audi, Land Rover dealership so I know how expensive scan tools can be. I am also an ASE certified Master Mechanic, so I understand the importance of a good, quality scan tool.

The functions of this particular scan tool are limited, of course. But for the money, I would venture to say that this is the best one on the market. Don't pay attention to reviews that are poor because of unrealistic expectations.

This product is exactly what Amazon says it is: A scan tool for check engine lights and other diagnostics. You won't be able to adjust turbo boost or change shift points, but pulling codes and displaying information is something it does very well.

Also, it comes with a mini disk for installation on a computer, but it's also compatible with an Android app called Torque.

Excellent product, excellent price! Dealer charges $100 for diagnostic,Why not to DIY and save money?!
