Product Description

Back in 1999, when Tuomas Saukkonen felt the need to break his routines as a drummer of a local band, he created a new metal project going by the name Before The Dawn. As soon as the studio was booked, the following demo session started a decade of prolific recording that captured 3 demos, 5 full length albums, 1 DVD and 2 mini albums. Saukkonen and lead guitarist Juho RAihA have been the key members of the band s sound since the Deadlight album through to Decade of Darkness and Deathstar Rising, with Saukkonen delivering the music and production and RAihA working behind the mixing desk in the studio, but Before The Dawn as we had known it, saw its end on June 25th of 2011 at the Nummirock festival where Lars Eikind (bass/clean vocals) and Atte Palokangas (drums) left the band due to mutual personal and musical disagreements. Current changes were difficult and unfortunate but still inevitable and necessary so that the band could continue and release the 7th album stronger than ever!, explained Saukkonen, leader and sole songwriter for Before The Dawn, Massive changes in the line-up during 2011 ended an era of great frustration and brought back 110% dedication and professionalism into the band. The newfound energy and motivation steered us into a victorious European tour and made it possible to produce the strongest, fastest, heaviest and definitely the most epic Before The Dawn album so far! After the European Rebirth tour in November 2011 together with Insomnium, Before The Dawn returned to the studio with new members Pyry Hanski on bass and Joonas Kauppinen on drums to record the said 7th album entitled Rise Of The Phoenix considering the circumstances, they couldn t have chosen a more suitable title! The new record will bring the band closer to melodic death metal, while gothic influences will be part of the band s history. One can look forward to the new paths Before The Dawn will be wandering on!

I bought this album after owning a couple of other Before The Dawn albums. I hadn't really listened to them that much as I got them at the same time as getting a bunch of others but I eventually got around to giving them a listen. Liked what I heard so tried this one and am very glad that I did. This album is one of those ones where I'm not sure what I want to listen to next and as soon as I think of this one I stop wondering what to put on and listen to this.

Great bonus tracks, especially the 2012 version of Unbreakable. Very good production too, sounds even better when turned up to 11.

5.0 out of 5 stars From the Ashes Nov 12 2012

Format:Audio CD
This is Before the Dawns biggest, loudest and quite simply, best album ever! It is brim full of head banging metal, tempo changes, and raw vocals.
It starts off with a simple acoustic intro before it blasting off into metal heaven. The album doesn't let up until the end, even with two of the last three songs being mellow part/full instrumentals. In fact, the tracks Closure and Deliverance, though they sound Opeth-ian in name, are the equal or better than what those metal giants have achieved.
This is melodic/progressive metal at its finest! Seems like Finland is putting up it's hand as the next supergroup exporter of Scandinavian metal.
