Vigil is a legend among coaches and he puts his 30+ years of research and wisdom into this book. For the average runner or coach without a science background, it may seem overwhelming with the amount of scientific data discussed. However, once you have a basic understanding of what he is talking about, the material and workouts become clear. His formula for success obviously works and after he breaks it down it can be adapted to fit any level of runner.
Vigil discusses all aspects of running, from trainig to mental preparation. He also describes how he has motivated and molded runners to do things they never thought possible. This is an excellent book for the coach who is trying to develop a total program that helps young people develop into runners and all well rounded young adults.
