Many years ago, someone thought it would be wise to do a Robocop TV series. The initial idea was good, but Robocop 3 had already mangled the character's violence with a PG-13 rating, and this series pre-dates anything "Game of Thrones" so if you liked your Verhoeven Robocop, your best bet is to stay away from this. The series follows the old TV formula: short episodes with self-contained plots and next to no change in the characters. Most premises are beyond ridiculous and even the pilot made me fear the worse... and even then, the pilot was the best it would ever become. The rest is all downhill from there. Weak dialog, performances and bland special effects make this series hit the final nail in the coffin.

If you wish to get a Robocop series that has its merits, the "Prime Directives" has much better ideas, plot and acting moments as well as serving the character a much better purpose.

Plus, this set is quite messy and Alliance (whom at this point in time was bought by eOne Entertainment) just doesn't really care about giving its customers quality products.

OK, Robocop movie fans may not all love this, but I LOVED this series. I love Robocop films, but they are pretty much all the same. This one is a lot more fun. I'm a fan of parody, and pushing the edges a little. Hell, I've DONE parodies. "On the Air" is probably my favorite of all time. This series was clearly Robocop, with a little more tongue in cheek. The villians were goofy (Cray Z. Mallardo and Pud-faced Morgan- how goofy can you get?) , the pyrotechnics were great, and I loved Commander Cash. Richard Eden was one of the best Robos outside of Peter Weller, and he had a great sense of timing. The erie thing is how the series did a pretty good job of futurecasting. It's been 20 years, and a lot of the material is still fresh. I was a little disappointed there were no "making of" or commentaries, but considering I didn't have to watch it with Japanese subtitles, anymore, and the transfers were super, I am absolutely delighted. Why does Robocop and the Cybermen all sound like they use the same power stapler for sound effects?

This Canadian set has no extras. No subtitles, no deleted scenes and no commentaries, like the US Versions might have. But if you want the series to complete your Robocop films then this is for you, until US decides to put out their release.
