4.0 out of 5 stars Not as random, not as funny, Aug 3 2011

One thing I loved about the first two Star Wars Robot Chicken discs was how random they were. At one moment you're seeing stuff that happened behind the scenes at the Cantina, the next you're at a Star Wars convention with George Lucas. With Star Wars Robot Chicken III, there is (almost) a narrative here. It (roughly) follows the chronological story of Star Wars from I to VI with an emphasis on the life on the Emperor.

It's not bad, it's just less of what I like about Star Wars Robot Chicken discs. The Emperor is one of their best characters, if not the best (with Boba Fett being a close second). Fear not though, there's lots of Boba, lots of Darth, and more hilarious Jar Jar. Yes folks, Robot Chicken is the only universe where Jar Jar is actually funny!

Bonus features are the standard Robot Chicken fare, with a round-table featuring George Lucas being the best of the bunch, and in many ways funnier than the main feature. Lucas has a good sense of humour about himself.

4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars hilarious, Aug 4 2011

This review is from: Robot Chicken: Star Wars III (DVD)
Based on the very funny preceding Robot Chicken Star Wars I and II, it's hard to believe but Robot Chicken Star Wars III tops them all and is the best (arguably the funniest) of the bunch. There is some brilliant black humour for fans of the series. (I'm not sure there's anywhere left to go though - the material is covered front to back). The program itself runs 45 min. but could have gone on much longer. The dvd contains a plethora of extras including some very funny deleted scenes, numerous featurettes, interviews, docs etc. plus 4 commentaries (2 groups of actors, writers and crew) and a 'chicken nugget' viewing version with options for sketch video commentary. Also, for anyone wanting to actually see George Lucas meet Robot Chicken, there is a too-brief boardroom meeting (very entertaining). Highly recommended for fans.

1.0 out of 5 stars Shame on you, Adult Swim!, Aug 29 2011
This review is from: Robot Chicken: Star Wars III (DVD)
Loyal Canadian fans are suddenly being screwed over by Adult Swim and their lengthy, incomprehensible delay of RCSWIII. A 7 month delay in the release of this title in Canada is inexcusable. Every other DVD is released on the same date in Canada as the U.S. and I cannot understand why there is a lengthy delay. I have tried to get an answer on Adult Swim's website, but no response.
