If you want to go back to the days of cheesy metal this is for you.. Especially if you want it played by some slightly overweight chicks in spandex and singing with funny accents, which saves this stuff from being total rubbish..

4.0 out of 5 stars Worship the Goddess...sort of., Jan 31 2004

FRANK LOUIS (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Rock Goddess/Hell Ha (Audio CD)
In the spring of 1984, I purchased an import LP from Bleeker Bob's in Greenwich Village. My selection was based purely on asthetics. Fantastic cover art featuring the mythical Medusa and three smokin' hot chicks on the back cover. Long haired sixteen year-olds have such discerning taste.
The sound that erupted from my speakers when needle touched vinyl was totally unexpected. The opening drum kick and power chords of "Hold Me Down" pound open the doors of a melodic metal classic. The remaining tracks shine less brightly but manage to deliver well crafted rock tunes. Solid guitar work and the raspy yet sexy vocal stylings of Jody Turner highlight a better than average 80's metal offering. The two disc expanded re-issue is a must have for those who experienced the era and those who wish they did alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The First and One Of The BEST, Jun 1 1999
By Danise Rodriguez - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Rock Goddess/Hell Ha (Audio CD)
The music world got it's second wind in 1980 when bands like Girlschool, Leather Angel and Rock Goddess emerged out of nowhere (actually:England; Hollywood, CA; England, repectively). These chicks made music that was a little harder than The Runaways. It was heavy metal. Rock Goddess vocalist/guitarist Jody Turner had the voice of an evil dweller on one song and the voice of an angel on another. Her guitar work dazzled the ears. Her sister Julie was a master at playing her massive set of drums...you can barely see her in their live video releases! I played my Rock Goddess vinyl albums so much that they've become a bit worn out, so I was ecstatic when these two albums were released on CD. I wish I knew what Jody Turner is up to these days. She is one talented musician. Anyone who likes their music hard and fast and...to just RIP!...buy this set of CDs.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Death Metal Nonsense Here!, Oct 29 2005
By glen wilkinson - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Rock Goddess/Hell Ha (Audio CD)
I have loved this band for many years and finally gotten hold of a copy of their two albums. This is classic NWOBHM power metal, melodic but with plenty of bite. Proof that the girls can do it just as good if not better than the guys. It's a tragedy that straight down the line HM isn't appreciated here in Australia. Today's young upstarts are obsessed with death/thrash garbage-tonsil tearing, cookie-monster vocals, 900mph guitarwork and pathetic drumming. Not to mention dumb band names! Get a life and get with 1983!

Anyway i would recommend this CD to true HM/ NWOBHM fans alike, this band were just as good as Girlschool.

And remember kiddies; heavy metal ain't about horrific glass gargling, tonsil ripping vocals against the background of a cement-mixer going off the edge of a cliff in fifth gear!

But you don't get that with this cd, just magnificent raw edged-melodic HM.
