Def Leppard is simply one of the best metal bands of all-time and the success that they accomplished with Pyromania and Hysteria prove that they are one of the best bands of all-time.

#1 on the Mainstream rock tracks with Promises. #1 on the Mainstream rock tracks with Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion). They scored their one and only #1 single on the Hot 100 with the beautiful ballad- Love Bites. Hysteria peaked at #10. Let's Get Rocked hit the top 40 as did Two Steps Behind and Have you ever needed someone so bad. Let's Get Rocked reached #1 on the Mainstream rock charts. Pour some sugar on me reached #2 on the Hot 100 and Armageddon it- reached #3.

Def Leppard is the most successful British metal group.

Simply put, this album has the best of the best from Def Leppard.

this album rocks! this album brings back alot of good memeries of when i seen the rock of ages tour in ottawa ontario with the tea party there awsome live. i love def leppard there an amazing band rick allen is possibly one of the greatest drummers hes an amazing drummer and plus he has 1 arm that makes him awsome. so people get this album its amazing but if u dont like def leppard then u shuld b shot! anyway peace out n leppard rocks

"Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection" finally brings the 2 disc "Best of" Def Leppard to North America. With a slightly varied track list (reflecting different singles that were hits here) and a different new song, "No Matter What," that is now climbing the charts, Def Leppard puts on 2 discs a varied selection of hits and other songs that showcase their immense talent.

Def Leppard is a hard rock band that can really sing. Most of the songs on these 2 discs truly reflect that. Many of the backing vocals add layers of harmony to Joe Elliot's lead vocals. Many of the songs also reflect what the Leps learned from working with Mutt Lange for several albums. The liner notes, with snippets on each song from the band members, show the progression of how the guys learned to tear apart a song and put it back together. This is reflected in tracks from "Pyromania" and later. What resulted is truly a stack of hard rock classics with multiple guitar and vocal layers as well as high production values. No wonder it takes these guys several years to put out an album.

The songs are not in a chronological order, but who really cares! This is a rocking 2 cd set and the pacing and song selection just makes one want to crank it up in the house or the car. The cover art is definitely improved over the "Best of" set from Europe and reflects the classic covers of "Pyromania," "Hysteria," and "Adrenalize."

Truly, this is "The Definitive Collection" of Def Leppard material. However, the band is still going strong, so in a couple decades, we may get volume 2.
