5.0 out of 5 stars Chick-Lit for the smart chick, Aug 29 2011
By Allaner - Published on Amazon.com
Novelist J.F. Kristin and I have been friends since elementary school, and attended both high school and university together. Our friendship may be the reason I picked up "Rock Star's Girl," but it's not the reason I kept reading.

I had long since given up reading Chick-Lit, finding myself frustrated by the sheer stupidity of the characters in many popular novels of this genre (the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella comes immediately to mind). But Kristin's protagonist, Emily Watts, is no idiot. She's an educated, intelligent, and witty woman -- just like the author herself. Sure, Emily makes a few dumb moves in the game of love, but in the end her braininess takes the win.

"Rock Star's Girl" is a compelling, entertaining and amusing read. If you're in the mood for some light-hearted romance with a smart and savvy edge, I encourage you to pick it up. But be forewarned -- it's difficult to put down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, relatable and surprising, Nov 9 2011
By LP Rocks - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Rock Star's Girl (Paperback)
Fun, relatable and surprising. I don't read chick lit often, so to capture my interest in this genre I have to be pulled in right away. Finally, we have a female protagonist (Emily Watts) who isn't lost, ditzy or dying for a man. Emily Watts is who I want to meet when I read chick lit - she's smart, focused and sarcastically funny.

The pop culture references incorporated by the author make the reading fun, relevant and light. It's visually very descriptive. I felt like I was following along the way in LA street by street and venue by venue. There are some great plot twists that I didn't see coming and felt totally satisfied at the end of this read.

I highly recommend this book for those who like chick lit and those who read it on the fringe. It's like a little candy for the brain.

5.0 out of 5 stars fun read, Sep 5 2011

I really enjoyed this book. It was interesting to read a story where the main character is 26 years old.

This book has that young adult feel, but is set around adult characters. They have jobs, responsabilities and their judgement is not clouded by their teenage hormones.

Emily Watts is a lovable character. She's a strong woman who has a head on her shoulder. I felt like she could've been one of my friend.

The love interest is everything you'd want but with a touch of reality, meaning that he is far from perfect. Something that is often missing in books. Aren't we tired of always reading about the perfect guy who says the perfect thing, who does the perfect thing, who looks perfect... Thank you J.F. Kristin for that touch of reality.

The ending surprised me, but I liked it. It's not what you'd usually expect and it was refreshing.

It's definitely worth a read. If only for it's entertainement value. Plus, if you're like me and you love storylines that involve Hollywood, celebrities, rock stars and actors you'll enjoy this book.

Best of all, it's only 0.99$ !!!
