IT'S JUST LIKE DYNAMITE....,
By Paul S. Power "Music Reviewer" (Nova Scotia, Canada) - See all my reviews (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Rokstarr (Audio CD)
To me there are 3 songs that are THE summer songs of 2010-Katy Perry's "California Gurls", Nickelback's "This Afternoon" and Taio Cruz's "Break Your heart". Here's the skinny on Taio Cruz: this 27 year old from London, England has been on the radio for some time now in the United Kingdom. His first album, released in 2008, made a big splash 'across the pond' and introduced the world to the man who's written and produced songs with Usher, Pussycat Dolls and Justin Timberlake, to name a few. The inevitable move for him was to take a crack at the North American music market. He is now an international pop star. This album came out on June 1st but "Break Your Heart" was entrenched in people's ears, minds and feet well before that, going all the way up the charts to the # 1 position internationally. Yes, it has a slight Akon wanna be vibe to it but the song is so damn catchy, and features what is probably one of Ludacris's best raps. Before the dust has even settled on that song's trajectory, his duet with Kesha, "Dirty Picture", was released. This hot track shows us that he's not just a one hit wonder. Of Course, Kesha does her typical sex kitten-party girl take on the song, and it may be a little bit too techno-oriented for your average Top 40 pop music fan, but it's a great song and is charting well. My pick for second single release would have been "Dynamite" (eventually released as a single), this song follows the path laid out by recent will.i.am/Black Eyed Peas/David Guetta songs, but it's not a copycat track. To me it's the best song on the album. What is a huge surprise is the song "Feel Again"; it sounds like a Coldplay number. On first hearing this song, there's no way you'd think that it's the same artist. It's amazing. Even "Falling in Love" gives us a depth that Taio's pop/dance hits don't even hint at. It's as if there's two different singers on this album-both being very, very good. To sum it all up, Taio Cruz's "Rokstarr" album is excellent.

I bought this CD for the song Dynamite for a hoop dance...but I found the other songs were also very good.

The repeat option is no longer useful.,
This review is from: Rokstarr (Audio CD)
I could say the same thing to Iyaz, Jason DeRülo, Jay Sean and many other artists... One success doesn't give a career. Break Your Heart gives a headache. Dynamite has very stupid lyrics "'Cause I told you once, now I told you twice". Higher is a fast and boring song with bass... Actually the only song that's worth to be bought is Dirty Picture featuring Ke$ha... Don't waste your money on an album that will end up resting for 40 years...
