Product Description

From Amazon.co.uk

Like a calypso Enya fusion, Hans Zimmer's "You're So Cool" dreamy motif for Slater and Arquette says all there is to say about being anti-heroes with aspirations of happiness. Better than any rockaway title song, this tinkling fairytale theme floats them into the sunset for an inevitable upbeat ever after. Before they get there though, there's some advice from Elvis to be considered (Charlie Sexton's "Graceland"), some bad guys to be fought off (Soundgarden's "Outshined"), and some tender phone box interludes (Charles & Eddie's "Wounded Bird"). The soundtrack reflects just how unpredictable their journey is, with abrupt left-turns in style. It's a trophy album of course, for those taken by its Tarantino cool. So a hop from the British Airways theme ("Viens Mallika Sous Le Dome Edais" from Lakme) to Robert Palmer's "(Love Is) The Tender Trap" hardly matters. They're all great tracks in any order you might want them. But a better rounded example of Zimmer's style in this timeframe might be his score album for Pacific Heights. --Paul Tonks

4.0 out of 5 stars Even better than the movie., Jan 7 2004

This soundtrack has a level of coolness to it, that is only matched by "Wild At Heart", and "Natural Born Killers". By no means your typical selection, it's special. Other than top-notch songs by "Chris Isaak", "Soundgarden", and "Charlie Sexton", this has music from artists I was unfamiliar with, like "Nymphomania". But the best thing here is the compositions from "Hans Zimmer". They bring you right back to the film, and are excellent insrumentals. The only thing that could have made this better, is a few snippets from "Elvis", (Val Kilmer).

4.0 out of 5 stars re: that classical song, Nov 13 2003
yes in fact, a great song. I think Lakme (1883) by Leo Delibes is the opera but the song used is Flower Duet

One of the finest CD's I have ever heard. Perfect for all occasions. Hans Zimmer is a genious and his music is one of the things that makes True Romance my all time favorite movie...
Oh by the way- to the gentlemen who commented about the music when Clarence went to retrieve "Arizona's" clothes... wrong state Richard from Tacoma- her name is Alabama.
