5.0 out of 5 stars Rosetta Stone v3 Japanese Level 1&2 April 28 2008

Our family is moving to Japan in 3 months and I wanted to have my kids aged 8, 9 and 12 to learn a little Japanese. I was so surprised when my kids actually started making up sentences and identifying the Japanese symbols in less than a week. I love the fact that you can take as much time as you need to learn to pronounce the words/phrases over and over. It's better than having a private tutor. However, the best part is, it's fun and interactive and the kids love it! I highly recommend Rosetta Stone to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Method to learn a new language! April 15 2008
By S. Macdonald - Published on Amazon.com
I just bought this software and I am thoroughly enjoying it! My boyfriend (who is Japanese) and I will be traveling to Japan this summer so I purchased this so I could learn as much as possible before we go. It's amazing how much I've learned in just under a week. What makes this software so great is that it truely provides a natural way to learn a new language. It's perfect for everyone and every learning style because it teaches through visual stimulus of photos and foreign text, native speakers, and your own intuition. I expected to learn to speak Japanese, but this software is also teaching me to read and write Japanese! I'll revise this review again in a few weeks to report on my progress.
~ the only negative is that the software has a nasty little habit of freezing ~ hopefully they'll have an update out soon to fix this

I have to say this is the best way to learn a new language. I have just started and so far I love it because I identify objects without having to do a translation in my head.

This item was purchased as a gift for my husband- he works for a Japanese company and takes a trip to Japan each year for business. Though his time spent using this product has been limited- he has learned a few basic words and seems to really enjoy this product.
